Hey guys,

Long time lurker. Bought a '10 runner this summer. Before I begin let me say that this forum has an amazing amount of information, and to all those that supply it thank you very much.

With that said, I feel that I am seeing more and more just flat out ignorant comments. My previous vehicle was an '08 tundra, and I was active on the tundra forums for quite some time. The tundra forums were great as well. Lots of info, and to be honest, more respectful posters.

My question to the guys with smart**s comments to OP's. Why? if someone gets on this forum with an honest question, or looking for opinions on a mod, why not give them an honest answer?

We all come from different regions of the country, and different backgrounds. So a question that may seem stupid to some of us is totally legit to others...i.e., snow driving to "ricer mods".

I guess what i am saying is that this is a site for people to get legit info on their 'runner. Any chance of it staying that way?

Once again thanks for all the info here. And i apologize to anyone offended.

thx

Mike

I think this forum is pretty clean. I've noticed that some of the newer members (5th Gens) have brought some of that smartass ****.

I agree it needs to stay clean. It's what keeps this site different from other 4runner sites.

Agreed. To me seems like the last couple months have been the worst. Maybe oncoming winter is driving people to depression? haha

I do think there are some very opinionated folks and mini-moderators here, who I think, don't always comes across with tact or even respect. I certainly wouldn't talk to someone face to face like some post here. But you meet those kinds of people in real life everyday too :whip2:

You just have to glance over the posts that bother you and move on. I'm sure my opinions/posts have irritated others, just as much as theirs irritate me.

With that said, I love this place and have learned a lot. It take all kinds =)

Lol...Im not one to "contact a moderator". I just figured i would bring it to attention. I believe Dispense said it best...that i would certainly not talk face to face with someone like that. I suppose unless i was comepletly s**tfaced...and looking for a tussle :)

Agreed, allot of nonesense. None the less, I am appreciative of the people that post good information.

Thank you to the people that provide us with valuable information about our vehicles.

Yep, nicely said... +1

Ditto to the OP.

I tend to agree with you , i am on several forums and most very friendly
but when someone leaves a smart*** comments because they have seen the same question over and over why not just answer it and give the newbie a link to a thread and help answer their question.

This place is pretty tame compared to most of the forums out there. As for the same question being ask again and again people need to learn how to search. If they don't get told here eventually they'll get it in the next forum which most likely won't be as polite.

thank you

Personally I think that people are far too sensitive these days. If you are remotely offended by what someone says on the internet you have issues.

The line of what is and isnt politically correct is far too thin. You cant say a damn thing without offending someone somewhere.

One of my favorite quotes:

"You're not offending anybody by stating your belief one way or the other. That's the neurosis other people have to deal with. And if someone is offended, tough"

Im probably one of those people you are referring to, dumb people piss me off especially when their answer is in the manual or a search away.

I can understand where you are coming from with your post, and I will try to give my feedback or reasoning that I can come up with.... I purchased my 4R over a year ago, was a member here shortly before purchasing. I think a lot of the 'attitude' you see here has to do with members tired of repeating themselves over and over and over and over and...well you get the picture. This was/is a new generation so for the 1st year most questions were new, people were happy to look into it, do lots of research, help each other out as best they could. Fast forward to another new model year with little to no changes to the 4R, most questions (besides custom mods) have been asked MULTIPLE times and I think people are getting tired of being asked the same questions and having to write the same thing time and time again, hence the 'use the search function' coming up a lot.

It also seems to me there are a lot of people recently who bought their 4R and run here to ask a question, trusting a total stranger with no knowledge of their knowledge, to something that would have been answered if they cracked the 1st page of the the owners manual...hence this great icon provided by the forum....:rtfm: Not everyone here is an expert, not even me :) Trust your manual 1st!

As the old saying goes....ask a stupid question....get a stupid answer. Yes, I know 'there is no such thing as a stupid question', but I know what kind of person said that last one, just kidding.

I think this forum is a very good place, sure we all have our 'bad days' and might get a little pissy now and then towards each other but it is mostly in good fun and not really meant to offend anyone. As with all forums there are always those select few members who do nothing but 'troll' and cause trouble, you can quickly learn who they are and just ignore them, and the mods are pretty good about stepping in and controlling things quickly if they start to get out of hand.

I think that if you read your owners manual and then search for what you are looking for on the forum and still do not get the answers you want, then post your question(s). Obviously if it is not in print or on the forum then it is 'new' and 'exciting' to us, not tired old news.

Of course that is all wishfull thinking, people can do as they wish, free country and all, but you asked your question so I thought I would give it my best shot!

Oh, and btw, congrats on the purchase, enjoy!

I would have laughed at anyone who asked me that in real life and then showed them, in that order. If you're thin skinned enough that you couldn't laugh at yourself for something that silly then you wouldn't be some one I'd hang around with anyway.

I hooked up booster cables backwards once. To this day I'm unsure what happened. But I don't blame my friends for laughing at me or the guy who was boosting me for getting mad. S**t happens but I have enough self confidence to move ahead without crying about it.

^^ HAH!

@OP: fact is most people that get flamed here are getting it for one reason, laziness. most answers are here somewhere, and if it is actually an original question then most people will answer it. just remember this Posting And You... | Flash Videos and you will be fine.

p.s. it's the internet, get over it.
