I'd had my 07' FJ since they first came out and absolutely loved it. It was hard to part with it, but there were features on the 4Runners that I really wanted and it better suited my growing family. I have been a long-time member of AZFJ.org, and have taken the FJ on many adventures. I definitely pushed the limits of what a moderately modded FJ was capable of, and really enjoyed what it was able to accomplish. I'll be a Toyota owner till I die!
I decided I wanted the 2014 Trail Premium in Magnetic Grey so I actually ended up ordering it through my favorite local Toyota dealer from Japan. While the truck was still on the slow boat over from Japan, I ordered the lift and tires for it (that's how I roll). (3" OME medium with the Sport Nitro shocks front and rear. 285/70/17 Duratracs.)
I know most people hate the new front end, but I don't mind it. Plus, I'll probably end up taking most of it off to slap a steel bumper on there....once people start making them for this new design. I've only had the truck a week, but so far I'm very happy and impressed with what it has to offer. The new Softech interior, stereo with GPS, SUNROOF! and roll-down rear window are major improvements from the FJ already. Did I mention 4 doors?!?! How nice is it to have 4 FULL doors?!?! The stock tires are less than desirable, so I'm going to wait to wheel it until I install the lift and new tires. I'd like to re-sell the tires, so I don't want to chunk them out on the rough AZ rocks.
Mods I already have in mind other than the lift and tires include: Full skids, rock rails, a REAL roof rack - Probably the full Baja Designs rack, LED light bar.....and whatever else I see that I can't live without. I assume the mod addiction is just as strong with the 4Runner crowd as it is with the FJ crowd.
Anyway, I'm glad to have found this group and hope to share stories, tips, and ideas with you guys. It would be great to meet some more AZ 4Runner peeps, so please give me a hollar and maybe we can wheel together some time.
