There was plenty enough thread with the kit, but not enough of the double stick tape, which is why I used my banner hemming tape (I use the Cascade brand):

I guarantee that you will not be able to fit that under this skin! I had to pull the thread extremely tight to get the two ends to meet up, and feel the kit could have been just a tad bit wider to make it butt-up together a bit more. There were a couple of spots where it simply did not butt-up tightly, but I could not pull any more on the thread for fear of ripping the leather or snapping the stitch.
As for the source of the stitch itself, that was about 7 or 8 replays of the XUJI video with that guy going warp speed on stitching a wheel! I also used a couple other vids on youtube on "steering wheel stitching". After watching about a billion vids, I just said screw it and jumped in! I did the bottom piece first just so I could re-do the smallest and easiest part if I screwed up. And I did!
I didn't allow enough thread to finish the whole piece, so I couldn't finish the last 10 stitches. Ended up cutting the needle out and pulling out that whole section of stitches. Back to youtube to see how long it should be. That's how I came up with having the thread equal to 6 times the length of the area you're stitching. There will be leftover at the end, but there's plenty enough to finish the job.
Of course, I also kept the remnants, just in case I had to McGuyver the last bit of stitching!!!:eyebrows:
