DIY Paintjob Assistance

I'll probably be criticized for asking this because I don't know all that much about painting, but how hard is it to legit paint it a flat black or charcoal to? So tht is using 400 sand paper and primer and so on. Anyone have any good links or advice for a DIY flat black or charcoal paint job?

FLAT black ... my advice is don't do it, it will look like @ss within a year. FLAT already looks dusty even when washed. After 24 hours they just look plain dirty. A gloss paint job can look clean or at least decent for a full week after a wash. A flat paint job ... more like 24 hours at best. Also those flat paint jobs fade and peel much faster. You may get 2-4 decent years out of it but it will start to look like crap.

Have you tried paying for a full detail job and professional scratch removal? $200 can do wonders on a cars paint job.
