Those components are for the factory alarm system, not keyless entry. My '99 SR5 does NOT have them, but it does have keyless entry. You could try to locate the wireless buzzer on the passenger sidewall of the engine compartment. This is item #2 in the attached diagram. Or you could try to program the system following an on-line FSM and see if it responds.
No, I said the buzzer/chirper thing is on the firewall. There is no module, per se, the wireless function is bulilt into the body ECU and the back door ecu (the receiver part). So the only physical thing to look for is the buzzer:
If you have this thingy in the corner of the engine bay, you have factory keyless entry. If not, you don't. (In this pic, the buzzer is unplugged).
You mean factory fob ? No , mine was an aftermarket Fob , the only reason I thought I might have a factory is the Toy parts dude said that was a common replacement FOB for the Toy one . Who knows at this point , that FOB went out a year ago and I have been using the key since
Like I do not need an alarm system so dont really want to spend all the money on one just for remote locking . I have looked everywhere in my Runner and cant see anything anywhere that even resembles a control box for factory or aftermarket :dammit:
There was no FCC number on that FOB either , so getting a replacement for that replacement proved futile as well .
