I took the window sticker with options verbatim so folks would know the options available on the SR5. After reading several posts about regional differences, I guess it is a little too much. Interesting how your sig has someone elses post in it, so I think that's a little overboard IMO.

Im on break, will be going back to my college career to my fraternity house tomorrow and plan on getting hammered. Oh yea, my fraternity is one of the most socially influential ones on campus.

I rarely visit this place at school.

Back on topic: OP - I hope your son knows how lucky he is! Have you thought about getting him a low milage 07' - 09' limited over a new one at all? A couple of my local dealers are willing to make decent deals on them.
 
Thanks for everybody inputs as I just put a $500 deposit on a 4x4 limited with nav with the MSRP at 43k minus $3251 discount. I think I did really good since it only a few hundreds over invoice. On the spec paper, it is written that it is 4x4 with transfer switch. What is the switch do? Sorry for a dumb question since i'm really new to this 4x4 thing.

H4F is high range 4WD, unlocked center diff, full-time 4WD. You should be in H4F for everyday driving.

H4L is high range 4WD, locked center diff. It behaves similar to a part time 4WD. Power is distributed to both front and rear axles 50/50. Use H4L on slippery surfaces to prevent binding of the drivetrain.

L4L is low range 4WD, locked center diff. Similar to H4L, except it's in low range and it provides much more torque to the wheels to aid in low traction surfaces.

I live in Louisiana and I bought a Trail Edition because I do a lot of off road driving in Colorado. A 4WD SUV was hard to find in S. Louisiana (not like a 4WD truck) so I had to really search the internet to find one. For driving in Louisiana I would buy a 2WD. You really don't need a 4WD if you stay on the roads. If you go off road in La. you need something much lighter in weight for the mud-it would really ruin a $38,000 to go off roading in La.

Get a 4x4.

Nobody ever owns a 4wd truck and regrets the decision... "Sure wish I would have gotten the 2wd model instead!" Nope, not gunna see that.

On the other hand there are a ton of people who end up regreting getting a 2WD. I went from a 4x4 toyota pickup to a 1st gen Tacoma prerunner 2WD and definitely regreted it. Being there when you need it, and the resale value alone make it a no brainer.
 
I think he already has a limited for his son. Isn't this thread a year old. We should ask how his son is treating that sweet ride he has
