Do I need a lift for the 265/70/17 REVO's

I have searched the site and found that some people put the revo's on without a lift. But some people say you need a lift to put these tires on. So Do I need a lift to put the Revo
265/70/17 on my 4runner. What is the final word. Thanks in advance.

I am pretty sure you will be fine without one...I thought some people have them without lifts on here and i am sure they will chime in. I have them but I have the daystar lift.

Not at all. That is a 32" tire, which should easily fit under your 4runner without rubbing. Anything taller will rub.

Under compression while at full lock I've gotten some rubbing on my BFG KOs that size. No lift. Just an observation and not problematic at all.

I'd buy 'em again in a heart beat.

Just bought a set of the 70(s) Revos . Had the a blowout on one of the stock Dunlops and deceided to just go ahead and get the Revos. BTW the 70(s) were about $25 a tire cheaper than the 65(s). Tire dealer couldn't explain it but thought it was due to being a less popular size. The 70(s) also look great and I have no rubbing at all.

I'm still going to try get a new spare in there, but the way it looks with the V-8 hitch isn't promising.

TRAC isn't bothered by tight turns so I don't know why it would be bothered by the /65/ /70/ difference. Someone for whom the math would be easy could do the calculations, but intuitively, it sure seems like a tight turn creates more rotational difference than the tire sizes would. Now a tight turn towards the side with the smaller spare, hmmm...

I'm going to defer to the million or so people who have no rubbing and happily say that I'm likely wrong. It was something I noticed off-roading and it seemingly took such an extreme situation to produce it (twice) that I wasn't concerned and didn't investigate. It wasn't Traction Control, however.

The spare tire/V-8 hitch link is interesting. Here's the 2-D pic that convinced me it might be tough. Your 3-D pic has prompted me to try it soon. I'd be interested in a measurement of the Revo's shoulder width from sharp edge to sharp edge. It's a full 9 inches on the KOs.

It does look as though there is not enough room. But even though the height of the tire is approximately 1" higher than stock it is only 1/2" higher from the middle (radius). In essence, just figure 1/2" more from your tread that is presently next to your truck's hitch and you will see that you will be able to get it in there. BTW, my spare is fully inflated to 36 psi.

Cool. I'm glad you took that good pic. It has been bothering me a tad that I didn't have a full size spare back there. I guess it's time to jack it up and put a wheel in there to verify.

how do i derive 32" from this tire's param 265/70/R17 ? i know 265 is the width, 17 is the radius of tire, 70 is the aspect ratio (tire section height / section width).

i suppose 265 means 265 mm, while R17 is 17 inch? geez, this system is all too confusing.

the 265 is the width in millimeters

the 70 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width

17 is the rim diameter in inches

so the tire diameter (in inches) is:

(265 X .70 X 2)/25.4 + 17 = 31.6
