Do your coilovers squeak?

Fellas,
I have a stock 2011 TE. I need to get a suspension lift on it before the snow thaws! Past fall, I already smashed up my skids pretty good

So I was about ready to purchase some coilovers and then some information was provided to me that coilovers squeak and if that is something that would bother me coilovers might not be the way to go. I'm like alot of people on here, squeaking foot rest drives me nuts (need to fix that), I get some occassional windshield squeaks, and there is annoying rattle on the passenger side, so if I'm crusing along with the windows down and I hear squeaks from the front coilovers I think it will annoy me.

What do you guys think with your coilovers? Do they squeak? Is it noticeable during the summber time? If I'm creeping along in the mountains with the windows down and listening to chirping birds, will the squeaking be too much?

I like to "venture" into the back country in colorado to camp, so I don't do hardcore 4wheeling. I had toytec coilovers on my 2002, but was wanting to try something new, but maybe i should just go back to the toytec coilovers since its just a bilstein shock in there and it won't squeak.

All coil overs will eventually squeak. Especially if they use the "spherical" type bushing for the lower mount. Good news is, they can be replaced.

Depending on the company, I would look to see what they use for the rebuild of that joint and make sure that you can get the replacement parts.

Can you define "eventually"? As in after 1000 miles on them? After 50k miles?

In addition to coilover squeak, if you run aftermarket control arms with uni-ball and poly bushings you may have noise from that as well. My Camburg UCA's will squeak/groan if I don't keep them lubricated. I am actually about to re-grease the bushings this afternoon.

I knew this would be the case before I got them..there are always tradeoffs; this is why cars/trucks don't run this type of equipment as OEM.

Good point, and something I also learned the other day that I didn't know before. Although, the person I was speaking to said I probably would not benefit much from UCA's since I'm only trying to accomplish a 2" lift. So I guess I eliminated that squeak

The odd thing is I never see anyone complaining about squeaky coilovers on here hence why I never knew about it.

Of course that's going to depend on the driving that's being done. If you're on the beach everyday during the summer and in the northeast for the entire winter, I'm sure it will happen very quickly.
Just as Jonessey said, you'll just have to take care of them, keep them clean, and/or lubricate.

The coilovers on my Subaru would squeak about every 10k. They also needed rebuilt after around 30k. They are why I will not do coilovers again, total pain in the ass. Now to be fair, it was a totally different type of application than the 4Runner.

I think it completely depends on how the coilovers are ran, where they are ran, and the environment they are used in. I had King 2.5" coilovers on an old Tacoma and put over 50k miles on them and never had a squeek. On the other hand, I had a buddy with Sway away coilovers who lived in a place where there was alot more snow and rain than here (San Diego ) and he had squeeks a month after he put his coilovers on. So far on my 4Runner, no squeeks with the Fox coilovers or TC upper arms. Fingers crossed
