Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

This looks like a perfect, simple lift. Could you take some more photos on flat ground from different angles, and directly from the side?

Also, how did your alignment numbers come out with stock UCAs? How does it steer at highway speed?

Here you go. The angle shots aren't really the best, but I hope the side shot at least helps.

So I've put a few hundred miles on it and it rides great on the highway, but around town on those bumpy roads it feels a bit less stable than the factory setup. I suspect this is more due to the bilsteins being so stiff. Hopefully they continue to break in and the rear settles more, it still is sitting quite a bit higher than the 1" lift.

Shocks won't break in, you'll get used to it though. Also aftermarket uppers with more adjustment will help the skittish feeling.

supposed to be a 1" lift, I was at 22" stock height hub to fender. Dot_Tom posted that he was sitting at 24" with 325's in the rear.

Oh right. 599s were what I originally wanted but they were out of stock.
Have you reached out to Mike or David?

I ordered the 300/505 springs and Dobinson shocks. The front gave me 1.75" as expected, but the rear was a 2.25" lift. Overall my rake increased from stock.

Mike (at Dobinsons) and I communicated quite a bit, but felt like switching to the 599's might leave me too low when loaded. I've been driving mine nearly fully loaded for a month now, and although I haven't measured, it looks OK now.

What's fully loaded for you?
Mind taking a measurement for us to compare?

Nearly fully loaded means I have my RTT, awning, fridge, stove, drawers, and recovery gear. I have everything except food, water, and personal gear.

Measurements are as follows:
Pre-Lift
Unloaded: Ft=20.0" Rr=21.0" (1" of rake)
Loaded: Ft=20.0" Rr=20.5" (0.5" of rake)

Post-Lift
Unloaded: Ft=21.75" Rr=23.25" (1.50" of rake)
Loaded: Ft=21.75" Rr=23.00" (1.25" of rake)

I assumed that the uppers would help, Looking into some soon and maybe a rear track bar.

What kind of numbers did you get on your alignment? It seems like a lot of shops do a terrible job. My shop (Lakewood Alignment who are old-school specialists) got my numbers right on the money and my truck drives beautifully. I have essentially the same setup as you and no reason at all to switch out the control arms.

As far as height goes the fenders are the wrong place to measure because the rear wheel openings are higher than the front. So if you want even gaps you'll have to ditch your lift in the rear and maybe go higher up front. Completely reverse the frame rake. The top or the rear arch is 2 full inches higher than the front on mine, but the frame and rockers sit almost dead level. If anything the front is a fraction HIGHER.

Interesting. I had a Toyota tech do my alignment who has been the only tech to work on mine as I know him personally. We were able to get 2.9 degrees of caster and get toe and camber pretty close to oem spec.

As far as measuring, the fender measurements previously were 20" front and 22" rear, I am now seeing just under 22" up front and now 24.2" rear. So that might make sense as I am still seeing roughly the same rake. Although the fronts lifted exactly as advertised and the rears are now sitting a full 2" taller instead of the 1" or so advertised. Do you have your measurements available from a hub to fender perspective?

Switched some more parts over to Dobinsons. Swapped out the 5100's for Dobinsons LT front and Rear. Installed Dobinsons extended sway bar rear links. Also 3" metal tech bump stops.

I gained an inch up front and much better rear ride.

Front 302's with LT strut - Center of the hub to fender - 23"
Rear 325's with LT shock - Center of the hub to fender - 24"

Uniball UCA - 4.5deg of caster with camber in spec.
