Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Does anyone know if Dobinsons UCAs have issues getting a good alignment? They are not as adjustable as other options but I like the idea of a lower maintenance OEM style UCA for a lifted vehicle. I am lifting my 2013 4runner about 3” in the front and 2-2.5” in the rear.

As long as you have 2" or more of lift, you should have no trouble at all. If you didn't have enough lift, it may have too much caster.

Our UCA's have no adjustment at all actually. They have a fixed 3 degrees of added caster set into them.

Mike, any issues with suspension travel up front with this setup? I'd want to run this setup but the front page notes the GS59-700 should be limited to 2" front lift. I'd be running stock weight up front for at least some time.

Apologies if I'm missing something; you and your dealers obviously know a lot more than I do.

Sorry, it should say up to 2.5" (just corrected it). Of course, the more you lift, the less down travel you will end up with from ride height, but they still work fine at that lift height.

We've been air freighting some to fulfill any orders, as our ocean shipment keeps getting delayed.

At this point, we're fulfilling orders placed for UCA's within 2 weeks of the order date.

Full Dobinsons long travel setup

Here are some new photos from a local shop, Proline 4x4, who is running all of our parts on their 5th Gen. He's also running 35's, so he cut and chopped a few bits here and there to make that happen.

On the rear, this has our long travel rear coils, shocks, sway bar links, upper and lower trailing arms, and panhard rod.

The front has our GS59-574 struts with C59-352 heavy load coils, UCA's and diff drop kit.

I just got an alignment today and the gentleman doing my alignment told me my rear axle was pushed to the right by 3/4". The alignment he gave me looked good however I still have a pull to the right. I've had the same results from 2 other shops as well. Do you think your adjustable panhard bar should fix my problem and get it tracking straight again?

The rear is currently lifted by 2" toytec springs.

What is the minimal lift required to replace the front strut/spring and rear shocks and springs to attain level front to rear? Stock weight. Make. Goal is to level and get a bit firmer ride as well as eliminate noise dive with minimal lift. Will only ever see very mild offroad and very infrequently. Likely nothing more than dirt roads or forest service roads.

That's interesting. Yes, the panhard rod can re-adjust that to make it centered, but I'm not sure if that would be causing it to pull to the right or not. I would think that as long as the axle is pointing straight forward, even if it is a little off-center, that it should track straight. But I'm not an alignment pro either.

You could just use C59-238 coils and GS59-700 struts to pick the front end up about 1" or so, then add GS59-705 rear shocks with C59-323 rear coils for 0 rear lift. Or add C59-300 for 1.75" front lift, to make it completely level. The front and rear coils add increased spring rate over stock to firm it up, cut the nose dive, and control the body roll during cornering better.

Since the trucks have about 2" of rake from front to rear from the factory, the only problem with fully leveling the vehicle is that if you ever load up the rear end, and it gets lower than the front, it can cause the steering to get light/loose and isn't a great feeling. So leaving about 1" of rake is a good idea in my opinion.
