Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Thought about adding airbags; my ideal airbag set up would be to activate it in the driver's seat but that would require much more planning and work.

The T13 sagged with 6 peeps+cooler+cargo so I wanted to see if I can get away with some rake on no load and no sag on full load.

Mike recommended those to me. I honestly didn't read up on it much more since he's helped out so many people on here. But I wish I did a little more research.

I used to have a RTT mounted but that was off when I installed and measured.

For others reading, this was your T13 setup when fully loaded.

Also, I quoted the 327 coils due to the RTT you had on it, which has also since been removed.

I have the 2014 FJ Trail Teams Ultimate TRD suspension (PTR13-35140) that I have not installed on my T4R yet.

The TRD springs that come with are 14" long and 580lb or 600lb spring (not sure which, heard both) in the front and gives a 1" lift up front.

I want to get a 2" lift up front and 1.5" lift in the rear.

What spring options do I have?

I'm sitting @ 41" in the rear roughly from the bottom of the rear fender with 315's sitting on C59-675V's /24" from center of rear hub to fender. Its sitting pretty much level in the rear with a 10mm trim packer on the drivers side. Haven't beat on the rear since it went on this past friday but road handling is great. The front is a 3.5+ TC kit

Why not measure from the center hub to the flare to rule out tire size/air pressure differences?

First samples of 2" have to be reworked, probably with a higher spring rate, so we're not close on the ETA of those, unfortunately.

Only the 1" non-HD replacements are here at this point.

Mike, is the 2” going to be a total of 14” or 15”? Only asking because I know the pro kit and the fj trail shocks are sized differently.

They would likely be 15”, so they would provide 1” lift over stock TRD FJ suspension (2” total over non-Pro models with TRD FJ suspension).

I have the 1” springs and they are 14” long. The 15” would give my 4R Pro 2” of lift (3” over non-Pro models).

If you pair their 1” lift coils with TRD Pro struts, it will lift an SR5/TRD Off-road/Trail/Limited 2” over where they sit stock, yes.

If you pair those same coils with TRD FJ struts, they will provide no additional lift over what the stock TRD FJ springs do, as they’re the same length.

That’s the setup I have. If the 15” (2” lift) springs that Dobinsons is currently testing go into production, you could pair those with the TRD FJ struts for 2” front lift over stock.

When they release them ill most likely go that route. I'm gonna do a cornfed spacer for now I suppose. Im also oping the Dobinsons will have a higher weight rating. I plan on doing a winch and hybrid bumper by the end of the year, so ill have some sag.

On the first page of this post it looks like they’re going to be developing some HD springs for the Pro as well. With the TRD FJ struts, I would look at some 650-700# 16” springs for a winch and hybrid bumper (I plan to get 16” 650#, as im considering the same setup). King, Icon, etc would fit the Pro struts, but I’ll likely hold out for the Dobby HD springs, as my current setup rides quite nicely and they took the time to design them for the specific application.

Yes they are currently undergoing testing for the 2in (HD and regular load) TRD Pro front coils.

I am fully convinced by Dobinson's quality and I would rather wait until they are finalized rather than going with other manufacturers.

Just received my spring order. Went with c59300 up front and c59599 in rear. Looking at the springs and the rears seem the same size, however the fronts seem to be about a half inch different in height. Are they supposed to be this way?

I’m 99% sure those are both front springs in your photo.

Do the labels have the same part number? They don't look like the same springs.
