Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Thank you Crikeymike!!
Okay so if I want to keep the factory rake for my KDSS 4Runner for 2" lift both front and rear.....

C59-302 Front Coil
GS59-700 HD Twin tube gas

C59-325 Rear Coil
GS59-701 HD Twin tube gas......Crikeymike should I get the Soft 705 rear shocks?? I will only pack up the rear when on road trips/Off Road Vacations.

You have to get tired of answering all these questions.

For 2" front and rear with Kdss it would be
C59-300 up front and C59-725 in the rear

The 302s give 2.5" with stock weight up front. And 2" or more in the rear, the offset height coils are a good idea. Or you could run the 325s, see how it goes, and add a spacer if it's necessary later.

Looking to confirm that this setup would work for me.

I have 5100's front and rear. Looking for 2" lift front and rear. I regularly carry 100#-200# in cargo area and twice a month carry much more than that. I tow a light trailer occasionally. I do not plan on adding steel bumpers. I would prefer a stiffer suspension than the boaty mcboatface suspension that I have now.

I'm thinking
front springs C59-300
rear springs C59-327

Thank you for the info!

You could go that route, as those rear springs are stronger than the regular 2" c59-325 coils

Thanks for the reply. Are the c59-325 and c59-327 the same height with different spring rate? Or does the c59-327 rely on the extra weight to compress?

edit,
Please forgive my stupid questions. I'm still learning about springs. I trust your advice.

Yes, different spring rates
327's are 2" with the listed weight
325's are 2" with the listed weight

327's would be probably 2.5" or so without any weight on them (stock weight)

Just pulled the trigger on a twin tube setup (C59/314 & GS59-700 up front and C59-505 & GS59-701 in the rear) along with a diff. drop kit from dobinsons as well. I was considering this or their MRR as well as several other entry level suspensions from Icon and other brands but ultimately decided to go with this and test it out over the next year or so because I felt this would probably satisfy majority if not all of my needs (at nearly half the cost of some of the other options) and I could always upgrade over time if the needs change by choosing some of their other options or those that they may introduce to the US market in the future.

I'm pairing this up with Total Chaos UCA's which I had ordered earlier with a different suspension set up in mind. Hoping to get around 2-2.5 inches in the front (I have about 150 lbs of constant additional load upfront currently or planned) and around 1.5" in the rear.

I must say that Mike was extremely helpful with helping me choose the right setup that would work best given my needs and planned usage. As were the hundreds of member posts and reviews on this thread which I spent a ton of time going through to develop an understanding of the wide array of choices that dobinsons has to offer.

I hope to install as soon as I receive everything and will provide an initial impression and periodic reviews as I put the system to its paces on and off-road.

Mike, my 302/505 kit with diff drop has been sitting in my garage for a few weeks. I'm waiting to install after the holidays go away. I didn't get them assembled because a buddy of mine had an extra new pair of KYB top hat/mounts that he gave to me. I'm going to pay to get them assembled (I fear spring compressors). Is there anything specific that I need to inform the shop of when assembling the front strut/coils? Are the coils and/or struts side specific, etc? I appreciate all the help Mike and answering all the questions in this thread. (I apologize in advanced if this has been covered in this thread as I kind of skimmed through the beginning pages)

No, not side specific.

Edit: the parts aren't made side specific, but they must be assembled different from each other for the proper orientation.

Print this page to show them how to assemble them, if they don't know how. Click here and follow the strut instructions:

Sway Bar Relocation

Does anyone have a picture of the Dobinsons Sway Bar Relocation? I'd like to get a visual of how it relocated the Sway Bar. I know how the Toytec relocates, which is my concern if it relocates in the same manner.

Thanks,
Brandon

They do install in pretty much the same way.

Mike after reviewing your diagram of the dobinsons front strut assembly which is (after the strut)
bottom washer/bushing/washer/TOP HAT/bushing/washer/nut...
I noticed my KYB top hat I think has the bushing already underneath the top hat or it's glued? Do I need to take it off in order to do the
bottom washer/bushing/washer? or do I leave it in and it'll just be
bottom washer/bushing/TOP HAT/bushing/washer/nut

They're almost always glued in place when new with the proper washer already in the proper place. Just leave it where it is and follow the rest of the diagram.

Had time too install the C59-505 In the rear got exactly 1.75” lift. Fronts are set to 2.5” on king shocks adjusters.

Mike,

Looking for a small lift for my 2018 SR5 and want to maintain some of the factory rake so considering:

300 and 505 -> which supposed to be 2.0"/1.5" for my 5th gen

with bilstein 5100

Your KDSS springs in post 0 you mention 3rd row drops 0.25, should I be considering the 325 for the rear instead or will that give me even more rake then factory?

Edit:
https://www.toyota-4runner.org/memb...9-574-2-5-total-lift-c59-325-2-rear-lift.html

This says 2" and 2" so maybe 2" and 1.75" since I have third row?
Done Edit:

Also I am assuming these springs are stiffer then stock, is that correct?

TIA,
Jeff

725s would be more rake than factory. I'd suggest the 505s

Im trying to do the same set up, but unsure of how much front preload on Kings. I would like to know how much ribs are showing on your front coils or how many turns on the coils? Just need the front pre-load settings?
