Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Im trying to do the same set up, but unsure of how much front preload on Kings. I would like to know how much ribs are showing on your front coils or how many turns on the coils? Just need the front pre-load settings?

I’m at 8 threads showing, and I do have a 1/4 spacer on the front and back driver side to compensate for the driver lean but still have a slight lean. The rake is about 3/8”

Crikeymike, I'm about to do this....so on my 2019 TRD Off Road Premium w/ KDSS...I decided to not be aggressive since I have KDSS.

I'm going with C59-300 Coils for a 1.75 lift on the front.

Help with the rear please. I want to keep the factory rake or close to it.
723 or 505 Coils? It will bug me if my 4Runner does not sit level from side to side.

Dang I wish people would post side views and coils used

Perfect segue way to my post...

First off three days and 126 pages my brain is about fried! But tons of good stuff here! And Mike is an absolute hero, just great responses, knowledge, well done!

Having said that what I was looking for in those 126 pages and didn’t find one instance of- 59-296 up front- anyone do these? Mike? Would love to see 296-599 combo

And along that note also very few 300-505 combos on here- anyone?

I know why there isn’t a lot of them, but as a rake liker it would be nice to see these two combos.

But overall amazing!

505 coils in the rear with a 15mm spacer added to the passenger side is what I'd suggest. Won't have any 723s for a few months, and this combo will yield the same result.

Not every vehicle with KDSS leans also.

Probably 75% or more of guys that buy from me don't do a follow up post and review so you won't see every single option listed in here with photos.

Dobinsons CV boot kit for outers

Just added this to the site and here on post #1 as well.

CV Outer Boot Kit
CV59-554K - High clearance stretch style CV boots for the outer position of the front shafts. High quality silicone, includes all new grease and clamps - great for lifted vehicles with higher angle CV's which are prone to boot failure

Dobinsons High Clearance Outer CV Stretch Boot Kit for Toyota & Lexus

These can be installed the standard old fashioned way, or with the proper stretch boot tool, installation can go much faster with less work. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=stretch+cv+boot+installation

possible dumb question but whats a solid method of lubing the UCA ?

Currently i have just been spraying lube into the top of it and just putting the cap back on but was curious what the best option and product to use would be

Thought they were maintenance free?

They are maintenance free. Adding spray lube on top of the ball joint will just prevent rust of the top of it. The joint is greased prior to installation.

You'll want to make sure that the long bolt is torqued properly and with the full weight of the vehicle on them (vehicle must be on the ground). Otherwise it will preload the bushings and could lead to premature wear of them.

When are the UCA's coming off backorder? Been waiting for mine to come in since the black Friday sale I hear end of the month?
I know that for any new orders, we're looking at late Feb or early March.

You should contact whoever is handling your order for you (whoever replied with the order confirmation) and see where you are in the line and for an ETA.

Current setup is:

C59-302 Front

C59-723 Rear

My issue is too much rake. Trying to level the truck with stock weight and retain the 2.5" lift in front. Slight rake is acceptable.

Should I be going with C59-599 1-1.25", C59-505 1.5", or should I find a 1" lift spring like Eibachs?

Thanks Crikeymike

723's are 405 and 420mm free height
599's are 390/390mm free height

So going to those would drop it about 1/2" to 1" (since the 723's are offset), depending how the KDSS is handling the lift.

So you'd have to ask yourself if 1" lower than where it is now is enough of a drop to have it sit where you want.

I was planning on shimming the passenger side to compensate for losing the offset coils.

Guess I have to go home and get some frame measurements to confirm how much lower I want it.

I've actually had quite a few guys with KDSS run the 599's with no spacer at all and balanced left to right. But again, not every vehicle is the same.

When I put on my new suspension last week, we did the "open the KDSS valves with all the tires hanging in the air" trick to have it get level, and it worked great.

I heard opening the valves is a temp correction as it settles out after some time. But, yet to try it myself. Worth a shot.

So you think the 599's with my 302's up front would be pretty close to frame level or slight rake? I'm not looking for perfection just no negative rake or excessive positive rake. Frame level ideal.

Found this guys post. Looks perfect. Throwing me off tho because he says 599 but mentions .75" of lift in the rear.

Yeah, for 2.5" front lift, and lifting the rear some, the 599's are what I always suggest for closest to level while still adding some lift.

I've seen guys report 599's giving 3/4", 1", 1.25", 1.5", 1.75". I'm convinced it's differences in how they use tape measures, but who knows.... Consistently it's 1" to 1.25" on a stock 5th Gen rear with 599's.
