Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Yeah, for 2.5" front lift, and lifting the rear some, the 599's are what I always suggest for closest to level while still adding some lift.

I've seen guys report 599's giving 3/4", 1", 1.25", 1.5", 1.75". I'm convinced it's differences in how they use tape measures, but who knows.... Consistently it's 1" to 1.25" on a stock 5th Gen rear with 599's.

Ryan over at Eibach is saying a 1" spring would work to make it level. Is that OE TRD Pro spring you offer a 1"? Anyone pair that with a 2.5" front lift?

No, it's stock height.

TRD Pro's have 1" taller in the front, but stock height in the rear with a stronger spring rate. When we did all the testing on the Pro, we found the C59-323 to be within 1% of all specs of a TRD Pro rear coil, so we didn't have to make anything different for it.

Gotcha thanks for answering the questions.

They are maintenance free. Adding spray lube on top of the ball joint will just prevent rust of the top of it. The joint is greased prior to installation.

You'll want to make sure that the long bolt is torqued properly and with the full weight of the vehicle on them (vehicle must be on the ground). Otherwise it will preload the bushings and could lead to premature wear of them.

Has Dobinsons Direct changed to Exit Offroad? Or is it just another website run by Dobinsons to gain more market exposure? Basically, where should I go to order parts direct from Dobinsons without going through a outside vendor?

Exit Offroad is my own company (Mike) to handle all the retail sales directly. Dobinsons is taking more of a wholesale side of things now and letting most of the retail sales be done by companies and people like me who have the time to handle all the direct customer communications.

For anyone on this forum, I'd prefer you buy from me at Exit Offroad, since I'm the guy giving the help and information, and have been since the start.

Just installed my suspension this week and got the front aligned (3.4 degree caster with everything else within spec). It still has to settle so I haven't measured the lift yet, but I think it has turned out well. The truck is parked on a slight incline which slightly exaggerates the rake. Also, there is nothing currently in the back and I chose the rear setup for about a 100 lbs of constant load. Still very early to tell how it rides but early impressions are very positive. Much better on road handling and manners and the nose dive has been significantly reduced. Hope to take it off-road next weekend so will see it does there. I've decided to keep the stock tire size for now but my next set will be 285/70/17..

Suspension -

Front: C59-314 coils with GS59-700 struts
Rear: C59-505 coils with GS59-701 shocks
Total Chaos Upper Control Arms
Dobinson diff. drop kit

Thanks for posting!! It's nice to see someone posting up with stock tires still. Every time I share photos of a combo of parts lifting a truck, they always ask me the tire size and I tell them how much it can easily change the look of "how much lift" is on the vehicle.

Nice caster spec too!! Sounds like they did a great job with the alignment.

Looking good. How did it handle the trail?

Handled it great! We did the middle portion going west to east. we did the north loop that goes into tenn and back into ga. lots of diff types of terrain. climbing switchbacks with slick rock, with muddy moguls. the suspension fully loaded with gear in the back felt like butter as opposed to the stock suspension which would have been more bumpy and jarring. heard some squeaking in the rear and i wondered what the heck did i screw up when installing, but ended up being water bottles still in the kirkland case. lol. i have no other suspension to compare to besides stock but i love it so far.

Got a question for you guys.......

I recently bought a 2017 TRD ORP that had the King OEM performance coilover and rear shocks. I ordered the Dobinsons C59-327 springs as that is what I was recommended to order.

This weekend I installed my front bumper and winch and the rear springs. I set the preload on my front coils for 2.75" of lift, about. Then installed the rear springs. I noticed quite a bit of rake, and to my surprise when I measured from center of wheel hub to fender, I had 22 7/8" in front and 25 in the rear. I have determined that I definitely have the wrong springs in the rear.

I'm adding a drawer system soon in the rear, but i'm still thinking I need either the C59-505 or maybe the C59-325 to get the rear lift down to the height of the front. basically I need to drop the rear 2".

What do you guys recommend?

New springs take about 500 miles to break in. Measuring as soon as parts are installed isn't advisable.

C59-327 with no rear weight generally give 2.5" lift once settled. Drawers, depending how much they weigh and what you put in them, will drop it about 1/4".
