It looks as low as my spare tire is, and if it is, I drag my spare all over the place. So, getting a skid is a good idea.

I'm going to run baffles in the tank. A bladder would be nice, but they're too damn expensive. If I could find a way to make one, then I'd be all over it.
I've never had a problem hitting my rear bumper, or anything while I was out. the springs give a good but of lift, and keep the ass end up higher than alot of the other lifts for 4Runners out there.
Nevertheless, there will be a skid on it.
Are you saying I'm going to blow up???

You should make the tank smaller it sits in between the frame rails with some crumple room.

Cool build so far. One question though, is that tank going to be safe in that area? I would think a rear end accident would send you and your 4runner to the moon.

Sorry Doc, I've been real busy lately. So I haven't had a chance to model the tank in CAD and check the capacity. Not sure when I'll be able to, but it looks like you changed the geometry again anyway.

Couple more Pics and a write up.
I looked around or the easiest way to convert the 9 pin on the trailer to a 4 prong. Finally, I just gave up and decided that I would make it. BUT..... I wanted to keep the military tail lights. Here's what I did:
I bought a cheap wiring kit from the local Advance. Had the wiring harness, and all that jazz in there.
I took apart the military lights, and the kit lights. Ok, so I didn't take any pics of the military light.
This is the part you're going to need out of the kit.
Take the two nuts off of the back, and push the bolts through.
You're going to need to do some bending and stuff like that to get it to fit right. After that, I tac'd the light part onto the plate that is in the military light. Like so:
After that, I sealed it all back up with some Right Stuff RTV, and hooked the wires up accordingly.
Make sure you have a good ground on the trailer. I drilled a small hole, and pounded a nut in there so that I could put a screw with the wire on it. probably could've found a better ground, but there's a lot of surface rust, and don't want just wanted to get these lights working before dark.

And thanks by the way for the wheel bearing advice. I'm going to pull the hubs out and go get a shop to press in the new bearings.
I am definitely subscribed. If you ever wanna meet up, I'd enjoy snooping around that truck for awhile

I can't either. Might have to wait a while though. Just signed up for Team Rubicon. There's a good chance that our area is going to deploy, and if that's the case, I'm going to do my best to get out of dodge for a little while.

She's a sleeper.
Everyone looks at her and says "It's a Toyota. It can't do anything."Like the other day when I went to get the trailer. there was a Chevy 1500 blocking the trailer in, and they couldn't get the key to move it. One guy hooked his truck up to it, and just spun his tires. I hooked up, put her in 4H, locked the back, and pulled that damn Chevy out of my way a good 30 Feet, with out even having to jerk it. The guy looks at me and goes "Yeah, she's got some pull, but that's with both Locked." I told him "No. Just the rear." He said he needs a Toyota. Lol.
No problem with the help man. If you were closer to here, I'd say come down here and we can get the bearings pressed out for free. I've got some connections here in J-Vegas.

Sounds good man. I am going to Nags Head from June 9-16th. So maybe I will see some East Coasters down in NC soon enough!
I'm getting a beach house with the family and we're just relaxing for the week. Last year we went to Avon, but thats in bum-f#^k Egypt, so we're doing Hatteras this time. If anyone wants to hang out at a beach house with 10 rooms, pool table, volleyball court, pool, and an indefinite supply of Coronas, let me know.

Awesome! So are you going to keep it simple or go with some WWII designs as well? Some things can't be included though. Like how US military birds would mark their planes with Nazi symbols to signify how many "Jerrys" they took down.
But having a bunch of Nazi symbols on a 4Runner... You catch my drift. Haha!
