Does The Rear Window Go down?

And the Limited has the up/down buttons on the rear plate garnish.

That makes alot of sense, it has always annoyed me not being able to close the rear window without putting the key in, which is useful to throw things in the back when you have a bike rack on etc.

And if they have fixed the sulphar smell issue it may actually be nice to drive with it down, I have not had this priviledge, unless I am coasting very gently, get on the gas and its fart from hell.

Amazes me how this "Toyota issue" has not been resolved, often when I am driving down the highway and get the bad smell, what would you know but there's a late model Toyota in front of me....

It's bad gas, i.e. high sulfur content issue. The exhaust systems on some manufacturer's vehicles seem to tolerate it better than others.

So the 5th gen doesn't have a way to open the rear window from the remote?

Another fail.

Man, that video made the interior look cheap. I'll still consider trading my 04 though. Also, did I spot a push button for the ignition? WTF.

From these videos, the smart key fob on the Limited does work the rear window, however the regular remote keyless entry fob does not.

Well, that's good for those willing to pay for the Limited. At least they have the feature. But it sucks for SR5 and Trail owners who can't even get it as an option!

Man, based on all of the information I'm hearing about the trim levels, they should rename the SR5 and Trail 'Limited' and call the Limited the 'Unlimited', because it seems they're making you pony up the cash to get all the really handy and useful features and you can only ever get them on them on the edition that I'd want to take off road the least. Yeah, yeah I know all about how so few people off road, don't care about it. Why the heck can't you get smart key and the rear window fob controls on the other trims as an option? Seriously?

Gotta say though, those buttons on the rear garnish look like total crap. Seriously, WTF? Ugly and obvious up and down arrows? Why not at least try to camouflage the buttons even slightly? Those things look like something I'd find on my TV remote control for god sake - but at least they're not haphazardly slapped onto the back of the TV! Not that I love the giant branding on the garnish either, but w/e that seems to be what Toyota wants to do with all of their vehicles now.

Heck, my 4th Gen SR5 has rear window fob controls, just can't raise it back up for whatever reason. This new gen 'Runner has some good qualities, but I am less than impressed with how Toyota is setting up the options on the trim levels. I will not buy a limited just to have a few useful options you can get in cheaper vehicles. What I wanted to get was a Trail Edition (heck, even an SR5) that has a few things only the limited does. I don't need NAV, Leather, or any of that - I need functionality. Why a guy can't outfit his trail edition with some of this stuff just makes no damn sense.
