Hey everyone, I have been searching for a solution for our black lab. I have searched numerous hours for the right cargo mat that will fit with my sliding rear deck, however, I just can't find one that I like. Any suggestions or other mats that would work?

Welcome to the club. Nobody has found a mat (trust me, I've searched this forum extensively) that they like. Problem is, the market really isn't good for the 4Runners. I'm coming from a Jeep community where you can get ANYTHING you want by looking in one catalog, not so much for the 5th Gen 4Runners however.

cargo-slide mat notwithstanding, it strikes me that the aftermarket is actually embracing the 5th gen pretty quickly... or at least quickly updating many 120 accessories/upgrades for the 150 platform.

Ya it's cool and I saw it a couple weeks ago but it's not much of a mat......more of a fabric protector. I need something, as do other dog owners, need something that has grip for them to stand still on when accelerating.

pretty easy to build a cheap containment box...i built one for my wifes volvo xc90. Very thin plywood and used trim on the sides and bottom. nice and light and completely protects sides and bottom

Lose the dog! jk. I went to home depot and bought some moving blankets and a rivet set. Put some rivets where the headrests are and it protects it for the most part. If you want to spent a lot of money on preserving the back I'd look into the full cover as previously mentioned. I'd get that too, i now strap them down (as you should in case of car crash) and this really works well.

I was thinking of doing something back there as well. I find that the 3rd row in my Limited is too high and does not give my Rottie enough room. I may pull it all out and do something custom.

Any ideas?
