Don't buy from shrockworks

I just laugh that people that continue to "flame" this thread or website and agree are ones WITHOUT a SW bumper, but love to tell you they have a CBI or DO bumper. You can justify your purchase all you want and congratulations, but people have talked about and if you read any reviews you know there is a long turn over time. Yes I apologize that you keep contacting them and they keep saying just a little bit longer. It really is not fun to continue waiting, but I guess the only thing keeping me positive as posted before is with the GB is IF they go past their 4 month window I get another 10% off bringing my total to 25% of the bumper. Again I know it sucks and I'm just trying to stay positive. I guess if you want you could just cash out and go with a DO or CBI, but again I chose and stuck with SW because I like the looks and durability of it.

Now hold on there Nick, as stated above I have the SW. And pleased with it and known there lead time, and ordered it on a time frame not to interfere with my desired needing it.

Still, not good business practice at all, with what they tell people. Great product though.

I know you will be very pleased with your bumper when you get it.

I ordered one knowing it was one of the best made bumpers out there and also knew that there was a long wait time. I fully expect to have it in that window or get another 10% discount on this amazingly built bumper. You cant rush art. .or something like that.

kind of contradicting yourself there. you claim the SW is the best made bumpers out there but you've never owned one or used a different kind for yourself either. Then you go on to say its funny that the people agreeing to be against the company and it's ethics are without a SW bumper; however, they love to rave over there other manufactured bumpers?

No body is saying the SW bumper is no good or worthless, everyone is simply stating it is ridiculous for a company to come out and give you deadline after deadline after deadline and never meeting the damn deadline. It would be one thing if the company and customer service reps would come out and say look we don't have a large production capability, yet we still have massive amount of orders so your bumper will be produced at an unknown time; however, they have typically been shipped between 4-6 months after ordering. The compnay should also contact the customers to ensure that the final payment is okay to charge to the initial transaction card.

I work in manufacturing as well with every machine we create is completely custom. We give promise dates of 3-4 weeks for the common designs, and flat out tell some customers look its going to take a year to even prototype your design criteria, if your interested we will certainly get it done though.

When our company hits our busy season we change the lead times to 5-6 weeks or longer depending on the amount of orders we have coming in and we continuously keep up with those lead times. If a machine was due to be finished today by our company and it didn't make it to paint until last Friday you can bet your ass our entire employed staff will come in Saturday and even Sunday on some occasions to keep our word and make the deadline. I really don't see how a company can maintain business without integrity, and all i can see that SW has done is lose integrity continuously.

I ordered a CBI bumper 5 weeks ago and should see it by this weekend. Am I infatuated by the fact that I don't have to wait six months for a product that costs over a grand, Your damn right I'm infatuated!

One problem a lot of small shops have is that they do not pay their workers very well. A friend of mine worked at a welding shop and welders and other workers would just walk in and quit one day and go to elsewhere because of low pay and poor work conditions leaving the owner of the business making all kinds of excusses as to why the work did not get done. I do not know if this company is that way but most likely it is. The owners are usually cheap skates with no loyalty to there workers.

I've never ordered an official product, but the rear bumper on my '85 was built by the owner of CBI for his personal truck, and it's a good bumper - "hell for stout" as my pops would say. If I ever decide to buy a production bumper CBI will be high on my list.

Again referring back to proper research you can see the results and also the materials they use, are stronger. I go off of hours of reviewing the product. What is great about America is the market and freedom to have several options. Are you disagreeing with their business model, YES, but their product pretty much sells itself. Cheers

Im in customer service and project management, i have zero patience for any company when i have to ask for an update on anything i've spent a large sum of money on. Its inexcusable to have to sit there and wonder when you're getting your product. I'd be fired and my jobs would go very terrible if i ran my operation like shrockworks. My friend had a very similar situation with his XTERRA bumper from them, id never buy from them.

I'm just saying. A thread like this pops up probably every month regarding Shrockworks' business practices. Yet the Shrockworks fanboys continue to throw money at them. Like Kid V said, it'll never change as long as that's happening, so I guess, know what you're getting in to when you order from them, and stop b!tching about it when it happens. I knew, I read "reviews" such as this, and I work too hard for my money, for it to go to a company like that.

You know how many CBI sucks threads I've seen since I've been here? ZERO

It's a lesson learned. I knew they were insanely slow, but I didn't read about all the false promises before ordering. I wish they would have told me 6 months and delivered earlier rather than telling me 3 and taking 6.

The other part that chaps me is that I called 3 months after placing the order and was told, "It's going into production this week!"

What the hell? So they took my money and didn't even bother to start for 3 months?

thats kind of normal (not saying it should take 3 months to start a bumper) but unless your purchasing prebuilt bumpers then your order doesn't go into production until your turn in line comes up.

Like in my case I placed my order five weeks ago they didn't start on it for another three weeks after the order was placed, then it only takes them about a week to manufacture, then a week to ship across the states. it would have taken another week or so if i had ordered powder coat as they have to farm out that service.

when you placed the order it was kind of like getting in a long line or waiting list. once you get to the front of the line then your production begins.. why it takes them another three months to produce I can not begin to understand.

These threads popping up about SW are really keeping me from purchasing a bumper in the future. I dont care how good your product is, if a deadline cant be met after 3-4 months your product is worth it. Its a shame because they are nice bumpers, but i refuse to support businesses who dont really support their customers.

Wow guess you didn't hear about the lead times before you bought. Shrockworks makes an awesome product. You probably got bumped due to group buys. Granted I know it is not the way to run a company but I have been very happy with each product I have ordered.

Even when I had a problem they were quick to make it right.

You will be happy with the product once you get it. But sorry about all the frustration.

As for the payment that is how it was always set up for me. I would call to make the deposit and was told once the product was in final stages the card would be charged without a phone call. I would then know my shipping confirmation was soon to follow.

I see they have NOT changed lol, Ive been telling people about them for so long, yet people still, hand them cash, and get pissed when they are lied to, time and time again.

Actually, if the OP is getting jacked round (or feels like he is, with no explanation from the company to the contrary), he should be able to "flame" any business he wishes. Same for people who own different products.

I understand long wait times, the time it takes for a quality product, not cutting corners on making the item, etc.

But leading people on by making continued estimates and not being up-front is piss-poor, IMO. Especially when that company has already taken a hefty chunk of cash from you on YOUR good faith. You don't have to own a Shrockworks bumper to have this opinion - you just need to be a consumer.

Moreover, if a company continually says they'll call and update someone and continually fails to do so, that means they're either doing it willfully (totally inexcusable), or are so overworked that there's no one to do it. In the case of the latter, it sounds like they need some additional staff to deal with customers. And if they choose not to hire anyone else, that actually IS a "corner cutting" measure from business standpoint.

Personally, I don't care how well built something is - not if every time look at it, it's going to remind me of an utterly-negative buying experience. That's just me - I won't pay someone a premium price to treat me like crap, just so I can have their product. Especially when that's not the only type of said 'product' on the market.

Cool story bro

All I'm going to add here is the following.

Demello quoted me 2-3 weeks for a bumper, and it shipped almost exactly on the 3rd week..

John at WhiteKunckleOffroad quoted me 2 weeks for a set of sliders and they were in transit to me exactly 10 days after I placed my order..

Those are two companies that I would not hesitate for one millisecond to do business with again.

Threads like these are exactly why I didn't even bother considering Shrockworks for a bumper.

Having a wonderful product does NOT excuse a business from having horrible operating practices. If things do not change for them, it will eventually be their downfall..

I completely agree that there is really never any excuse for poor customer service and especially giving customers the run around; but if people still keep buying from them while already knowing this fact, why should they change right? Besides some people deal better with waiting than others, so putting up with the wait times might not even phase some customers.

A few simple searches would show that their business practices may or may not be the best, which for me personally, deterred me right off the bat and led me to go with Bud Built instead (which delivered within a week of their ETA).

IMO threads like these are well justified and a good reminder for potential customers thinking about purchasing. Don't get me wrong, I am sure they offer a 110% solid product, but at what cost to your mental anguish? Personally, I'd rather just not find out how frustration it really is :)

I said before, I knew the await time and purchased adding that time into the factor, but, did , get it a little sooner than expected. I just prefered the appearance of there bumper w/out making custom add ons to others.

Them giving extended reasons for why when called is UNCALLED for, bad business.
Even though they have a great product, will I be giving any more money to them, NO.
The other produces I need, other companies make just a good product and appearance also for what I want.

I agree with the OP - waiting is one thing, but disappointment is another.

SW should just get a business loan, grow their supply, and start providing these things asap. I want one but would never wait this long for a product, regardless of how nice it is. Half the fun of buying stuff like this for our trucks is the spontaneous purchase and instant gratification dangit!:reddance:
