Door Locking and Unlocking Function

This is for all the new guys trying to change locked/unlocked doors depending on speed or shift lever position using procedure in manual:
When the manual says to hold down appropriate lock/unlock button for approximately 5 seconds it is lying. In order for a change to occur it had better be 5 seconds - not 6 or 7 or 4 or even 4.9 or 5.1 seconds. FIVE SECONDS exactly! I had forgotten this little tidbit as my TE came with the doors unlocking in park and locked when in drive. I want all doors unlocked all the time and just spent 45 minutes on an operation that should have taken me 5 minutes. Kids, use a watch and get the 5 second time exactly!

I managed to get it right the first time when the 4R was purchased. Tried it about a year later and it didn't work. I got fed up with it and left it until I found out the settings were adjustable in the Techstream settings.

Is the "unlock all doors with one press of the unlock button" only a Techstream feature or can you do it by yourself?

Is the "unlock all doors with one press of the unlock button" only a Techstream feature or can you do it by yourself?

I don't recall being able to do that with TechStream. One press will only unlock the driver's door, which when you think about it, is much safer for preventing someone from car-jacking you.

You know, you CAN have the dealer do this for you. I know, a big waste of time.
Or, you could send $30 to China to get the OBD Cable & Software and do it yourself. It is relatively easy if you are savy with computers. It requires XP or "XP Mode" (Win7 Pro), or Virtual Machine with Mac.

As far as the danger, not sure which is more of a risk to me, a car jacker or my wife being stuck outside of the locked passenger side when I forget to hit the button twice.:50cal:

I believe it is a feature with and without techstream. I don't have the manual or Nashman's pdf files on this computer but I think it only involved pressing the lock and unlock buttons in some way.
