Double din units..

Do I need a dash kit for a double din after market stereo? If I do, what do you recommend? I am going to be purchasing a Pioneer double din unit...not sure which one yet...

i just realized that your 4runner is a 3rd gen. for some reason i was thinking it was a 4th gen but anyways i have a 99 and i have the pioneer avh p3200 which is a double din deck and i didnt need a dash kit. the deck just bolts right in

yep, i've seen many 3rd gens with double dins and there is no dash kits necessary. it's a direct fit and bolt on. It looks great too and is positioned nicely. I am in the market for a double din dvd/nav/bluetooth unit. I know what i want (AVIC z110bt) but i don't have the funds. The avic z120bt is the newer version but it doesn't have much more than the z110 except some software upgrades that can be purchased in the new future.

My girlfriend had the avh 3100dvd in her 02 mustang and loves it!
I want the avh 4100dvd...ON either deck, I can always upgrade to get the nav, BT, and whatever else I want down the road!

All the Avic units are sooo nice...

NOW where go get the harness adapter!?

Definitely do not need a dash kit for double din....my Sony screwed right into the factory holes.
