Dous's Build Thread Version 2.0

Heck yea! I've got the Yukon SuperJoints there as well...hoping it will be a super reliable set up on 35's

yeah you won't be breaking anything anytime soon with that setup. When I break the axles in my 44 I'll be going chromos... money permitting.

With all that chromoly I am wondering what your gonna break lol 35s on a 44 yep that will be nigh on indestructible

Just had another wheel bearing go out! I am pissed. I just replaced the right side a week ago...on that side the O-ring failed at the flange and allowed moisture/mud into the "sealed" bearing.

This side had a o-ring that sealed fine, just failure due to age.

Talk about a crappy repair, pressing the bearing and spacers is a huge PITA

More maintenance crap cutting into my SAS. I may have to put the brakes on the ARB for now and run an auto locker.

4.88's are installed in the rear. Wasn't planning on doing it until after the front was done, but my pinion bearings were trashed and getting pretty loud

My parts list is getting shorter and shorter for the SAS

Waiting on:
12" King Remote Resi Kings
TG Frame plates
ARB Black diff cover
FJ80 Steering box
Bracketry
Heims/Bushings
Tie Rods
Firewall plate
Brakes

Great build, went up to Uwharrie this past weekend. Wheeled everythign but Daniel, I don't have sliders or skids yet so I was a little hesitant to try it. I want to go back after it rains a little, it was dry almost everywhere and almost too easy at times. Although I do hate mud.

Maybe I'll see you on the trails sometime.

Made some progress on the axle. It is ready to have the mounts welded on!

Not much longer until we cut into the IFS. I am really just waiting on selling my front ARB so I can buy the King C/O's

Minor Update

All the parts are pretty much in my possession, minus the King C/O's which are being ordered this week!

Ran into a little snag, my 16's wont clear without running a spacer, which I am trying to avoid. I don't want a nasty scrub radius since I won't be running hydro assist at first.

As a result I will be running 17's; the SCS Stealth 6's in Matte Silver! Plus, it turns out I have a line on a set of pretty much brand new 37x12.5x17 KM2's and I can get them CHEAP....so it should be pretty slick.

S6_MatteSilver-980x540.jpg

I hadn't planned on running 37's, but being that they are KM2's they run small, and pretty light weight at 73lbs a piece, paired with a 23lbs wheel I will be doing fine!

Stay tuned, the cutting is less than a month out!

Hey so what are you doing for the rear since you've decided to run 37's now? Gonna leaf it?

Still doing a radius arm front?

Still radius arms up front, the rear is going to stay stock for now. I dont anticipate too many issues, I will make new links for now.

The 37" KM2 looks almost the same size as a 35" MT/R, so they definitely aren't true to size. I wouldn't run a 37" MTR or Pitbull, but I think the KM2's will work when paired to such a light wheel.

Oh gotcha - I'm just wondering about clearance issues with the rear mainly because the rear axle is so far forward. I moved mine back a decent amount to keep a 37+ out of the pinch weld.

If you have problems with it though, it's pretty cheap and easy to just leaf the rear if you have to. Or maybe your longer links will solve the problem.

Yea with any luck we will be able to extend the links and push it back some...play it by ear!

And that's why I refuse to add up my receipts, it's just better that I don't know!

Looks like a good list of parts; SAS is not cheap, but the benefits are worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing it go under the knife!

Yea I hadn't planned on doing it, but for some reason I had the urge tonight. It was more than I thought!

LOL just above cost is right!! I see some nice prices on a few things...

Scary those costs are only for the front too minus your rear springs.... :lmao:

Don't worry, it's worth every penny.

Saved me a couple bucks anyway! Hopefully the rear won't require much more, besides some grinding wheels. I need to make new rear links, but it won't be immediately required

Well that looks about right honestly. Gotta love when you put the list together and then your like "SHIT!!!" Lol when I was putting together a 1ton swap the bill quickly reached 17k

LOL, yea I was startled. I projected my cost to be around $6k. That was before I realized I needed new wheels to the tune of $900. Also, I had to get a couple extra things like the Crane High Clearance Steering Arm, and I did the TG steering kit instead of doing a homebrew deal with junkyard parts.

You can definitely do it way cheaper! If you were to pay retail prices on the list I expect that you would see an additional $1k, easy.

You can, but you'd still be upgrading and upgrading which just adds more work and money lol... might as well knock it out at once. My only near future upgrades will be some RCV's or some different chromos, duals, better hubs, and of course, tires and more armor. I realized SAS on the cheap ain't worth it in the long run unless you love breaking shit or driving a clapped out truck lol.

I agree

Yukon just released their new hardcore hubs for the D44....I am bringing the Warns back and getting them. Quite a bit nicer, they look 100x better and are probably stronger. The also default to the locked position under use, unlike the Warns.

They are about 2x the price though
