OK, boys...here it is...

My intention of this thread is to show what I did and why. There are no "how to do its" because, well, it's all been covered here before. No need for further explanation. There are many build threads on this forum and a lot of how to's.

First of all, thanks to many of the guys here that have given me the inspiration, instructions, and guidance of why they did what they did (I'm lookin' at you Harper, Antman, Adio, philsey, Sp8ball *where are you?*).

So I bought her in April, 2011. Traded in the beloved 3rd gen that have a lot of memories attached. We did a 7 week cross country trip and did nothing but camped and hiked the entire continental US just missing only 9 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, of course.



So, my wife and I decided that it was time to grow up a little and get rid of the Ducati Monster S2R1000 as well.

So in April, here's what we end up with...2011 Toyota 4Runner Limited in black. Immediately installed the Trail Edition headlights.





Yes, that is in front of the shop that I run in Chantilly, Va. that many of you have seen or heard of on this forum.

And for the bike we got some green for the mods!!!

I would like to reiterate, if you are looking for how I did whatever mod I will be explaining about, I would love to guide you through it. But I will not be showing the actual photos of how it went down.

1st thing I did was tint all of the windows. No need for pics, cuz you all know what that's like.

Next was to get rid of that chrome. This is temporary as I was waiting for the Grille Craft and FJ40 emblem to come in.

So of course one of the first things to do is lift her. I decided to go with Bilsteins all the way around with toytec coils in the rear. I've had coil overs before and although, they are fantastic for off road, I hated they way they looked after a couple of years. They always got corroded and realistically, you're never going to adjust them after they're installed. Unless you get a bumper or winch.

The xreas was a great thing, I'm guessing, but I really didn't notice a
difference. Then again, I had it for 200 miles before I lifted her.

I decided to go with KMC's Skitch wheel in a 18x8. They did not have it in a 9 inch wide. So I had to use Spidertrax wheel spacers. I fell in love with the wheel and was determined to use this wheel.

You'll notice there is a red pinstriping on the wheel. This did not come that way. It was the only way I could get some of the soul of my Ducati in my ride. I have a thing for black and red, as you'll see soon.

You will also see that I've tried the red on the chrome trim for testing. That didn't work out so well, I'll explain later.

Those are the factory Toyota. Front was modified to fit 285's. Sorry, forgot to mention 285/65R18 Nitto Trail Grapplers.

There will be some pics of the modified body mounts I did a little later.

My factory mud flaps look nothing like that. Maybe it's the bolts that are throwing me off...

Have you had any issues with the ride with those tires and spacers? Does you TMPS light go on and off?

Nice job man, thats been tastefully done and I love those rims!

No problem so far with the spacers and tires. However, I've got less than 5k on the truck! Still need to change my oil for the first time.

The red looks great to me. Although, that's going to change here in a little bit. I'm preparing myself to be labeled ricer. 3M di noc is going on the truck in multiple areas.

Nice ride! I really like the red stripes on the wheels. For some reason the red on the trim isn't working for me. I wonder how it would look if you blacked it out. You could spray it with Plasti-Dip, that way if you didn't like it you could just pull it off.

When i was looking back at the pics, using Plasti-Dip would actually look really nice because it has a semi-matte look to it. It would pick up the matte on your wheels, as well as the trim between your front/rear windows.

This is going to lead me to the next mod. I liked the red, but it didn't last very long. After awhile, it was pink. I'm all about supporting the fight against breast cancer, but not on my truck. Pics to follow...

Yeah, the matte black trim would look good because it would match the grill insert and the surrounds of the fog lights.....sorry, i can't stop looking at it. That would make the red pinstripes on the wheels really stand out......awesome job!

By the way, momo...great job on the shirts. I'm sorry I haven't placed my order yet/in time.

So, the grill upper and lower came in and so did the FJ40 emblem. I went with the grill craft because a) I didn't want to make my own stuff (even after watching the DIY mods and b) I'm lazy.
I really like the original FJ40 emblem. Maybe it's me, but I thought the ones of off the FJ Cruiser were too big.

Of course, in red fashion...

Again, that pink thing is catching me everywhere I turn. I haven't found a way to paint it red without ruining the little bit of chrome that surrounds the emblem. One guy mentioned red nail polish...I might try that out....on the truck!

I will be placing the order on the shirts/hoodies tomorrow. I was excited when i finally decided to do them for the forum, but at this point I can't wait for them to be done and gone. You have till midnight, central time, tonight if you still want to order.

To continue on, as I stated before, the red quickly turned pink. I had to get rid of it. I liked the look, but would have preferred the darker red or Italian red. It only lasted a couple of weeks before I had to pull it all off.

So I ordered a 10ft roll of 3M DiNoc carbon fiber. For those of you that have no experience with it, it IS awesome! Truly molds to anything with a heat gun. Patience is key when applying to really intricate surfaces.

Some of you may have already noticed that the fog light surrounds have already been done. You'll see that I did them when I did the "wings" of the front grill. Which by the way is FREE to anyone local that wants to come pick it up.

I did all of the chrome trim on the lower part of the SR5/Limited models. This required pulling off the entire front bumper, both side skirts, and manhandling the rear. I feel this is the best way to go about it. You see, the 3m red vinyl I used before was not "wrapped" around the chrome pieces. So, in time, they started to pull away or shrink around the edges of the chrome pieces.

I will be preparing myself for the "ricer" comments now...:hiding:
