E7019 VSS Wire

Hi all...just installed an E7019 in a 2008 non-jbl 4runner. Need a little help with the vss wire.

I located 2 wires that are purple with a red stripe. They are both located in the lower bundle (the vertical one) behind the HVAC controls. Not sure which one is the vss wire, or if I am even looking in the correct bundle.

Once I located the wire, how should i connect it to the middle prong of the 5 prong slot? My thought was I would connect a separate wire to the middle prong and run it behind the HVAC Controls and splice to the VSS Wire once I find it.

If I can't end up finding it, would best buy or a car audio place be familiar with this issue? I assume other GPS systems also require a connection to the VSS wire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue when I was installing my Avic-D3, there were two Purple/Red wires, I'm not sure if they're the same or not, but I just chose one and it worked no problem.

I used Wire taps to tap into any factory wires to prevent having to splice wires. It's usually not recommended since connections can come loose, but it was just easier for me at the time.

According to what I read, the VSS wire is necessary to get an accurate reading.

alot of people will tell you to go do a search, i've searched multiple times on here and haven't found a good picture or illustration of the wire in question, although one search will yield which pin it is in the ecu. hope it helps, and maybe you could be the first to clearly document the wire for the rest of us.

First picture should give you an idea of where the harness is that has the VSS in it. I believe this is the lower one. (I thought it was the upper harness)
Second picture is a zoom and the third has a close up....... the VSS IS somewhere in there!! (Purple with red stripe)

I believe it's a speed sensor, when you connect to that wire, the GPS is able to tell how fast you're going, which in turn, gives you more accurate positioning.
