this weekend i plastidipped the front grille, and removed running boards. still deciding if i like the no-running boards look, but it was pretty simple.

Sorry to lazy to do the mod , and don't like baking either ! And I did it on hump day , did it during 1st half of bulls/heat game . Minor profanity & a few cuts but looks nice , decent fit , better than some I've seen n earlier styles . I know pics manana !! :couch2::vader:

This was an old thread that was a sticky. It has been a sticky for about 8 years so i have un-stuck it and just going to leave a link here since it is a simple weekend mod.

I've read through this write up on T120 and a few other places and at risk of asking a stupid question, but it seems most everyone has done the rear - any advantage/disadvantage to not doing the front as well or is it just assumed to do all 4 at the same time given the same process?

I figured if I'm getting one set of bushings etc. might as well get enough for all 4 links at the same time.

The reason is because most people who run coilovers or OME don't run a front sway bar at all.

I would recommend the AFE pro-s dry filter. The oil from the K&N might clog the maf sensor.

X2 on this... Started with a K&N and moved over to the AFE pro-s dry for that reason.

Bumper running lights

Decided to fill the running/signal light hole with these. All for $20. These are
2 1/2" round, so had to break out the die cutter and cut the inner round piece out. Continue with opening the hole another 1/4" to make them fit. Primer and paint the bar metal. All water proof led running lights.

Had the day off, so was an early weekend mod.

I have seen a few people post about this mod and the one part everyone seems to have had trouble with is getting the sleeve into the bushings...I see some said they have cut down the sleeve to make it fit better but this is what I'll be installing this afternoon -

I am not cutting the steel sleeve because I feel like the threading of the bolt will quickly chew threw the bushings...as you can see in the picture I mocked it up, using the nut and washer to press the sleeve into the bushing - once it's all connected on the Runner I will use the same method to get the 2nd bushing to push onto the sleeve and complete the install...

I can't see any reason to cut the sleeves using this method but I'm no expert by any means so please feel free to correct me guys if you think there's a better way!

So what did you do to make them fit ? Punch the hole out bigger ? Mine stick out and it is driving me nuts.

The inner round piece that sits behind the bumper, took a die grinder with a cutting disc smaller diameter than the hole. Had to cut through the welds that hold it on, with an assist of a chisel. When the piece was out, used the wheel and smoothed out the weld flat. Used a thicker disc and reamed the hole larger.
Put the light in the hole, larger side and made sure it had 1/8" larger diameter than the light. Press the grommet into the groove slot and had to use the screw driver to help slide the light in. Didn't want to make the hole to big.
It sticks out 1/4" from the bumper.

I love that this forum is a thing! It is now a weekly thing to check out. (after my midterm) Im doing the Zero point calibration and maybe diff breather mods. But my #1 weekend mod really needs to be cleaning out the ton of junk from the truck.

The way I understand it, is that the purpose of the sleeve is not to fit inside of the bushings, but to adapt the 3/8" diameter thread of the eye bolt to the 1/2 inch through-hole of the sway bar with minimal slop. If you pay attention to the assembly of the Energy End Links, there are portions of that part group where the bushings ride directly on bolt threads without a sleeve in between them. The sleeve is cut to an approximate length of 1/4" because that is about the same as the thickness of the pinched end of the sway bar that the eye bolt fastens through. There would have to be a huge amount of movement between the eye bolt and the bushings for the threads to chew through them. So much so, that if the assembly was moving that much, it would probably not be functioning as intended, and be obviously useless.

Pressing the full length of the sleeve into/through both bushings and the sway bar, may actually prevent you from being able to tighten the nut enough to exert adequate clamping force between the bushings and the sway bar. In other words, the length of the sleeve, plus the thicknesses of the washers is going to limit how tight you can torque down the nut, and that limit may not be enough torquing for a good "coupling" effect to exist between the sway bar and the eye bolt. After looking at the pictures again, I suspect this may be the case.. Try it out though, post pics, and report back. I'm curious to see the outcome.

simple weekend mod, yellow fog lights from winjet. you can find them al over ebay cheap.
they have yellow or tinted. best part they are dot and sae approved.

so with about a half hour of work(if you know how to take the fog light out) you go from boring clear fog lights to yellow

Extra HP

Lift it

Find a friend with a little mechanical skill and do an actual lift and remove cheezy spacers. Great weekend idea. Port and polish your upper and lower plenum for an actual hp gain was a great mod (friend works as machinist) I got a constant 20-22mpg on highway and gained 15hp and 23ft lbs torque.
