Easy Weekend Mods

I've been lurking for a while now, finally found some time to set aside for some mods.

Last weekend I plastidipped the wheels on my 04 SR5, the emblems, the grill and the bottom of the bumper for an "evo" type of look that I've seen elsewhere here on the forums.

I actually look back at my truck now when I park it somewhere, I'm really happy with how the grill and wheels turned out.

I ended up breaking a stud on my front left wheel but a buddy and I fixed it relatively quickly a few days later.

I also did the HCF Delete, which gave me noticeable throttle response and I installed some Hella Sharptone horns. The horns look awesome because they peek out a bit behind the grill since they're bright yellow.

Looks good but out of curiosity, why did you bolt your front license plate to your bumper without using either of the two sets of designated holes?

Does anyone know if 03 seats would fit 07? I could get my hands on some leather seats and wonder if they are just plug and play or if there will be any modifications I'm going to have do. My only concern is that the sport 07 has passenger side auto controls...for that I may have to take off the covers and replace but what about the others?

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm guessing that when my parents got the runner in 04, it was in Florida which does not require front plates so there wasn't a proper front plate mount.

When bringing the car here, they also registered it here and the plates were done by someone they know I believe. I wondered that too, but when I tried to remove the screwed I realized they actually stripped the plastic and I wasn't too concerned with trying to pry the plate off as it doesn't bother me too much.

How do the new Hellas sound?

They sound awesome, much louder than stock. I chose the Sharptones over the Supertones after finding some videos.

Sharptones sound closer to stock but just louder.

Got them for $27 off amazon

nice horns, read the reviews on amazon, they recommended changing the stock wires for better performance, did you change the stock horn wiring?. from the pics it appears you did

installed overhead switch panel!

That looks great man. I did something similar but ended up making a replacement out of fiberglass. Do you have a picture of the other side of the sun glass holder? I am courious how tight the fit was for the switch panel, it looked to me that it would not fit in there to well.

I didn't change the stock wiring, no. They still sound great/louder than stock, but to be honest I'm not sure if changing all the wiring would make them sound louder or not.

So the stock horns are mounted both to one side, I wanted them spaced out like how they are in my pictures.

Theres only 3 additional pieces of 14 gauge wiring that I made. There's one that was long enough to reach the passenger side, that had a male spade connector on one side to plug into the oem wiring and a female which went into the hella horn directly. Then 2 pieces of wire with a female connector on one end and a ring terminal on the other to ground the horns.

Super simple. If you get them and decide to replace all the wiring, let me know how it goes!

Another cup holder mod, but this one required very little work and came out great.

There's a little nipple on the bottom that needs to be sawed off and sanded flat. Seal it up with some clear RTV or silicone and you're good to go.

I secured the holders with clear RTV both on the bottom and the face that butts up to the swing arms on the divider. Use a lot of RTV on the bottom. I may end up driving a self tapper through that bottom hole in to the console for added strength. For $6 with Prime and a few minutes of time this was definitely easy.

that looks even better than what I did! the only problem with them being in the sunglasses holder is that they're very hard to read, even with lighting.

So on that note, how much would you charge for something similar ;)

I wish I had a good templet for this I have been asked a few times.

It took me a long time and a bunch of sanding to get that thing built. It was my first time using fiberglass. I have a spare overhead, I will see if I can form a templet from wood and lay some glass over it to make one.

I have a spare as well so if you're willing to make an extra I'll pay you and ship my extra so you can use it for mine

It just pops in there.. just used the spare for mockup. the one I have has fiberglass all over it.

Let me see what I can get done this week to get this going. I want to change mine a bit to add USB charging port in it for a gopro on the windshield.

Keep me posted! Perhaps @TiN can help out and 3D print some for all of us here, either way :)
