Found these on my patio today when I got home from work!



BudBuilt front, belly and diff skids! The package weight claims to have been 155 pounds (my exact weight). I'm glad I can take these on and off with a transmission jack at work because I'm getting to old for this already! :drama:

Honestly I'm thrilled with them all and they are in every way the heavy duty skids I thought they would be. I'll get them on early this next week and get some pics of the diff skid as I haven't seen many here that have it.


OHHHH ANNNDDD......

I got my supercharger installed and its running like a dream (a wet one at that). I however finished about 20 minutes before I had to leave to visit my family in Colorado Springs. I am driving my DD (2008 Honda Fit) for the week so I'll get around to posting a little about my impressions of the supercharger when I get more road time with it next weekend... so far though....very pleased is all I will say.
 
Decided upon a really lame avatar. This is me after work a few years ago after my coworkers gave me a cowboy hat and I decided upon shaving my beard into a fu manchu. I kept this look for about a week and it was probably the most awkward week of my life.

Well got this here thingamabob installed the other day..... freshened it up a bit before I installed everything and changed the oil with factory TRD oil.
(now I just need to "freshen up" my engine bay :bolt:)




After logging some drive time with it I can't express how pleased I am with it.

I live at over 5000 ft above sea level and most everything I drive is far higher so your performance may vary if you live/drive at lower elevations but it has dramatically increased my power. Now its not throw you in the back of your seat fast but it is entirely a different animal. The throttle response is improved (mostly due to finally adjusting my cable) the acceleration is fantastic and I no longer have to kick out of cruise control while pulling steep hills. The noise it makes is subtle but enough to put a smile on my face. While cruising conservatively I can almost forget its there and the engine idles smoothly like it did before. I have revved high under heavy load monitoring my fuel trims, timing, and oxygen sensors and it has smooth operation under all conditions (mostly again due to the altitude). I have not experienced lean out or excessive engine temperatures.

I now few a lot better about my decision to run 285s on some SCS F5 wheels in the future and adding heavy plate bumpers and armor.

It is on the stock pulley and I am just running Denso IK22 (colder spark plugs) and 91octane fuel.

If you live at altitude GET ONE! and if live in lower elevations get one and be prepared for the fuel mods.

The install is extremely easy although I wound up needing some little odds and ends to complete it, so I opted to buy the TRD install kit through work for very little (the part number on the supercharger thread was very helpful). I then wound up with a handful of extra hard to find parts which I am shipping to another forum member tomorrow so he can complete his install.

All in all I'm stoked!

and you read my mind about the tool box... I'm buying another one to use for that purpose back there as well. It comes with 3 layers of pull out foam so I'll layer wrenches on top of sockets/rachets and be able to organize it well without the tools rattling or sliding around. Pretty stoked to see how it comes out.

Then I got in on the group buy (this forum rules) going on here and lost my mind!

 
Took a good long trip to Green River lakes near Pinedale WY. My sister-in-law (who also drives a 3rd gen) took some sweet pictures and I really liked this one. She took this with an I-phone and did a wee bit of editing I would imagine but that really just goes to show the beauty of this place.

 
Good to see another CO 5sp e-locker running around! I believe I used to have my FedEx truck dyno'd where you work, if your shirt patch is still current?

There's a small group (Heeps mostly) running Moody Hill on the 17th or 18th; not sure if I'll make that one or not, but I could put you in contact with them. Moody was the first trail I ran with my 4R. She did great! I was the only vehicle with stock suspension, didn't air down, and she kept up with them all!

I tried laying down in the back of mine, and at 5'7" my feet were against the lift gate and my head was against the seat cushion. You can sleep back there without removing the bottom cushions? I was thinking of making a platform to sit where the cushion normally sits to make it flat.

I've got a version of your 'tent loft' in the works on mine, except more permanent, and it's steel. We should set up a meet some time. I'm in Windsor.

Thanks man and you are really close to me in Windsor. I live in Eaton as the name suggests. I do still work at Houska's (going on 7 years) in Fort Collins and we still dyno trucks for Fed Ex and everyone all the time.

I will be out of town camping near Walden, CO on those dates but would love to set something up soon! I've done Moody before and its a real good time, would love to go again.

I sleep on my side kind of curled up and always have... it works good for me with the seat bottoms still in because of that but otherwise would have not been possible.

I'd love you see what you come up with on the loft and possible sleeping platform. PM me anytime you want to set something up and I'll do the same!

I've seen your helpful posts and now I found your build thread. Welcome to forum.

Its pretty cool that the AppRadio has tilt. I did not know that until I saw your post. My classic 9835 Alpine has tilt and a lot of other bells and whistles but it is quite dated [2004]. Unfortunately Alpine stopped making decks that tilt entirely in 2005.


I expressed some interest when I saw a lovely picture of the black second gen TRD supercharger with all the bolts, brackets, dynamic tensioner, belt (hell for some reason even the whole throttle body) etc spread out.

Trying not to be too excited I asked what they wanted for it all and he said quote "well I don't really know what a used one is worth but I guess they are like almost $3000 new.....so maybe $750... is that fair?" I responded "$700 cash today and I'll pick it up!?" DEAL!!

Thanks for the kind words, I enjoy helping with what I can and its been a good way to network.

I didn't know the Appradio3 had tilt until I had it installed lol. It was a pleasant surprise. I like the flush look the most but I really find it much more functional tilted up and it sure is nice to have both angles as an option. I'm pretty sure only the one that takes DVDs/CDs tilts but I could be wrong.
 
A little maintenance time.

My third/high mount brake light has been out for a bit and I found it to have power but no ground at the bulb socket. Went to the usual suspect and it paid off.



several wires were through the insulation as well so I cut them back and ran all new slightly longer wires for eeeevvvverrrryyyy siiiinnnnggggllleee onnnneee. Tedious yes but I won't be back in there any time soon.


And my front sway bar bushings were hammered:



SOOOO I got new ones (imagine that)...

Damn. This thing is a boss. I need to see that diff skid. They just look so cool haha. Boxes are a pain in the ass to build but totally worth it. I actually just modified my box today.
 
Did you drive it while you had the sway bar off? Mine broke one day, so I got to try it by accident. I like the way it rides without it. A little more roll around town, but much smoother. I still have the rear one on, haven't tried disconnecting that one yet.

If we ever get together, you can drive it, see what you think. Build's looking good! I need to look into some RLCA guards, I bent the bracket last time wheeling.
 
Nice progress! You're ripping through all the fun mods in a hurry. Glad you like the supercharger, I agree that it's a great bolt-on at altitude.

Did you ever get my PM asking for your phone number to meet up? I don't think I've gotten a reply. Anyway I just got back from camping/wheeling out near Walden hopefully something works out soon man.

I didn't drive it without the sway bar. I like how trucks in general feel without them in some instances and not in others. So far I have not felt like my sway bar has held me back on the trail yet so I've left it on.

I really like the Lotus RCAMs. They look cool (most important right). But I like the piece of mind skid plates and armor in general give me on the trail. Honestly I feel like that kind of thing pays for itself the first time it saves components on the truck and possibly a nasty tow/repair bill.

Thanks man! Your rig is sweet and you are also in Fort Collins right? If so we should meet up sometime.

I know the fun mods are well.... more fun. It needed a fair bit of repairs and maintenance when I bought it and before I had this thread. Being that I maintain and repair vehicles for a living I find that kinda stuff a little boring to post about and take pictures of. I real recently just decided to start sharing pictures and posts of that kind of work because I realized how much people on this forum like to see it done and hear about the problem you had and fix for it.
 
Pm'd phone number. Worked on her a little this weekend. Mostly wheels, but did manage to get the deck plate mod done, and she turned 200k this weekend! Need to get her something nice....
