eBay uniball control arms?

Why not just get ProComp arms? We sell them for 440 a pair, with uniball caps. They are supposedly made by Camburg.

Even though they made be made by camburg the procomp arms are pretty bad. The uniball binds at a low angle and rusts very quickly. Working part-time at the coppell 4wp store we've had so many sets warrantied or exchanged it retarded. The newer revisions are better but they still have issues. I was very excited when the were released but once we got our hands on them me and everyone else advise people to get a different arm than the procomps

Developed an irritating squeak up front over the weekend. Had some time today to pop the tire off.... Out of any of the new purchases of these, have they corrected the issues with the sleeves/bushings? I already ordered these and bought upgraded bolts. Just curious if i need anything else.

I hear you on that. While the new revised version is much better, our top recommendations are always Dirt King, ICON & Total Chaos. We dont suggest running the ebay arms, weve seen them break at the weld. EDIT: They were Allpro arms, not the ebay arms. We wouldnt trust either. We also dont really suggest SPC / Light Racing, although they've improved on their first designs.

Source on the arms breaking at the weld? This is the first I have heard

We were mistaken, they were the Allpro arms. Look identical hence the confusion, same fabricator maybe?

Fair enough. Thats still the first time Ive heard of someone breaking a uniball arm. But judging on the light racing jounce shock bumpstops, that guy was going real hard haha. And yeah, seems all the arms look pretty much identical

I have beat the hell out of those Ebay Silver Suicide UCA's and haven't had an issue. My son likes getten a little crazy on the trails! So do I! Bahahahahaha! :lookout:

Misinformation goes a long way.

Where is there any misinformation? We edited the original post to clear that up.:sorry:

Cheap arms are known to break under normal use, that isnt misinformation by any means. :yo:

All we are saying is please do your research. This is a component that your life is riding on. There are a lot of other items you can buy cheap and get similar performance, but suspension components are not one of them.

Im glad you edited your first post and I saw that you did before I made my passive aggressive post ;), but if you read just a tad further in your source you can find that that breakage was far from "normal use"
This is gonna sound counter-intuitive but I avoided the Icon UCAs because they're unbreakable.

I like the idea of building fuses into the truck...points of anticipated breakage. If I'm in a situation where a TC UCA might break, I'd prefer that happen than have it hold together and have a coilover or LCA take a dive instead.

Under certain circumstances breakage can be inevitable so I try to keep it to easily-replaced, easily-carried parts.

As far as cheap arms breaking normally, maybe you can school the thread cause its my understanding that LR UCA's have been the on the short list with the reputation and still not a common thing.

But the main thing I was concerned about was your subsequent post posing the question as to where AllPro manufactures there arms, not only implicating them into that breakage (which was clearly not normal use) and the eBay ones with no substantial information. As far as I know the eBay ones are only about as new as this thread, maybe a bit older and so far the only failure Ive read about has been from a set put on backwards, which drew in the grade 8 bolt argument.

And as a dealer pushing equally "economic" arms your opinion has me confused.

Our opinion is that you shouldnt skimp on suspension components and buy quality items made from quality material from a known and reputable manufacturer, your life is riding on them.:peace:

This failure is not due to poor materials or design ... just a cold weld, i.e., a guy with a torch that should have remained at his job as a butcher ...

No offence to butchers intended.

IMHO, some places use the wrong process for the job at hand ... MIG, where TIG is called for. I cannot tell from the photo, buuuuut..

I agree, your life is riding on them, literally.
But, there's nothing to say these are badly made. I think that's the complete story here, that they are a good price not some trumped up over priced unit, and the ONLY failure known was a result of putting them on completely wrong. A person with some good welding skills could copy the design and weld their own for $100, or less. I understand paying for the companies labor, material and R&D, but they go all crazy with prices these days.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't agree with this statement.

Location and fitment of the various pieces of this weldment is critical if proper steering geometry is to be obtained. This would require a jig for proper placement and alignment .. Hardly cost effective just for one's own use .. Unless, you were tooling up to produce for others also ..

And how hard would it be to weld some scrap as a template around an existing piece then make your own? Not mass produce, just make your own. If a person regularly welds and does their own stuff they'll have tons of scrap laying around.
Bushings and uniball I think put me slightly over the $100, but the metal itself is cheap. Hell , my ex father in law built a complete lumber mill, turned a scout into a reverse drive forklift, and a multitude of other major machinery in his back yard with nothing fancy. Basic welder, torch, and some steel. He had skillz! Lol
The paint is, yes everything has to be aligned correctly, once it is its nothing. Manufacturers by stuff in mass so cheap, then charge exorbitant fee's for it all the time justify that if an individual does it it's not safe. Of course that's what they want people to think! They want everyone to be sheep, follow along, pay what I say, make me rich. BaaAaaAaa. I'm no sheep.
