eBay uniball control arms?

Im really tempted to get these if i can scrape some money together. Its not like im increasing my chances of sudden terrible death compared to my ticking timebomb LR UCAs

If you check my thread i have pictures of my failed LR UCAs, and I tried to take decently good pictures of the Ebay (Camburg replicas as I call them) UCAs, and they are pretty damn solid.

Camburg/AllPro/Total Chaos replica's LOL :)

Oh, but less like Camburg. Camburg uses a smaller diameter bolt for the uni-ball, so the uni-ball adapters are different as well. Similar goes for the bushings and sleeves.

Camburg makes a ball Joint UCA, they look identical to the ones I'm running. Haha.

Pretty much. But they use Tacoma Balljoints. haha. So I'm at least a little more protected when it comes to salted roads around here. They salt the hell out of everything.

I see what you are saying now...I didn't realize the eBay ones were manufactured in the ball joint style too. Definitely a Camburg replica.

The Camber uni-ball ones are slightly different than the eBay uni-ball ones is here I was going, LOL. :)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't agree with this statement.

Location and fitment of the various pieces of this weldment is critical if proper steering geometry is to be obtained. This would require a jig for proper placement and alignment .. Hardly cost effective just for one's own use .. Unless, you were tooling up to produce for others also ..

I have to disagree. I built my own lower and upper arms for a custom long travel kit, and built the uppers with a uniball in a syle very similar to total chaos etc. I built a jig and got out for under $100 per side with the cost of uniballs, heims and DOM tubing. The jig was not hard to setup at all, and I feel most competant welders could do the same. After all, Im just some guy in my garage with a welder

LR control arms problems are like having reoccurring death wobble on a Jeep, you might think it is gonna be fine forever, until your find a cracked weld from breathing on them wrong while washing your truck.:wtf:

oh god tell me about it i went through 3 steering setups till i found the currie 1ton, 2 trackbars, 3pitman arms, 2sets of LCAs before i finally killed my death wobble completely. Then i had to deal with random crap just straight up falling off the thing.

But... It's a jeep thing! Rofl

Haha, my buddy just went through on his slightly modded WJ. It was really enjoyable to listen to every problem, replaced everything except for the steering box. Of course it ended up being the steering box, $300 later on a box after throwing a couple K at the front end and everything is back to good. lmao.

Well I got my arms early, mine look a little different from the ones I've seen here. The ball wasn't packed in grease, will still put some sort of lube on it thou before install. Also he slug and the part that fit into the bottom of the ball are one piece. There is another sleeve and a short Allen bolt that holds the unit into the ball and another short bolt and large washer that holds the slug into the spindle. So it looks like all the pressure will be on one pre fabricated piece and not the bolts at all. Thoughts?

FYI: Slug Measured at 43.25mm & 43.23mm diameter

My understanding was the slug setup is for the 3rd gen. See the Stoky3's photo on page 22. No slug on the 4th gen setup.

So, I would check out Icons website...this is how theirs are setup. I (if you are the same guy) posted the link on FB. http://www.iconvehicledynamics.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/I58400_REVA.pdf

Running one bolt all the way through wouldn't be a bad idea. I like this setup, I've considered buying that hardware for mine.

Just so everyone knows. I went the sellers page and read some of the negative reviews. One buyer actually had his control arm bolt fail. It was for a ford but it looks like it was assembled by the same people. Makes me wonder if this is a common failing point. i might go with these, but look for a stronger bolt.

Heres the eBay review:
"upper control arm bolt failed causing my wheel to come off while driving Buyer: 5***5 ( 373Teal star icon for feedback score in between 100 to 499) During past 6 months Feedback conversation
Silver Upper Control Arm For Lift Kit ¦ Ford F150 04-14 2WD 4WD + Free Shipping (#321567594074) US $250.00"

Why chance a critical component to save a dime? The facts are cheap Chinese UCAs don't have a good track record. Ebay, SPC (LR) or otherwise.

It seems like the eBay ones have a very good track record except for the one guy who installed them backwards and upside down. Seems like as long as the minor modifications of shaving the bushings or adding a washer are made, these UCA's have been performing exceptionally

Agreed. Seems to be a good option instead of paying $600 for total chaos, camburg, icon etc. The materials to build the arms arent that expensive, its the design you pay for. And since these are a direct copy of other brands arms it seems, they can sell them for a much cheaper price. Sure theyre not perfect, but for less than half the cost, its a perfect option for some.
