eBay uniball control arms?

It looks like they had some 3M double sided adhesive on them, but it was pretty weak. I'll try to find something stronger.

I read the entire thread and, right at the very end, got super confused as to weather or not the blue and silver control arms are the same, because the Ebay store names are different.

In any case, I'm holding out until they get more silver ones in stock.

I asked if they would do black, and they simply said "no customer colors" lol

It's different though! Better than the typical red/silver that everyone else has. Red powder coat would have been cool though.

The red powder they use in China turns pink very quickly, if you see a red set, I would steer clear...unless secretly you want a pink set.

Most likely, but given the silver ones have been tested, I'm going to hold out until those become available.

I talked to the seller (they sell under 3 names). They have the silver ones that everyone is using, but are sold out of them. I did not want to wait for the silver so I ordered the blue. They are literally the same arms with a different color powder.

So I finally got these bad boys on today. It's been a little while since I wrenched on a front end, but these weren't that bad really. I also swapped out the coils for some FJs that already had spacers on them. That wasn't quite as easy as I have read, but I got it done. Here's a couple shots of the hardware and the final product. I ran out of daylight and haven't taken it for a spin yet. Maybe tomorrow I'll have some more info.

OK. As much as I wish to bring the hive the sleeve solution and even though Ill be out about 50.00 bucks on this I found a better more direct solution for you guys!!!!! 1 of 2 actually.

Solution 1 (less desirable):
SPC Bushing Kit 25466

I spoke with the SPC engineering department and they gave me these measurements:
SPC 25466
-1"O/D
-14.25mm I/D
-52.5mm/2.1" Length

These are made for our 3rd Gens, but the downside is they are 0.2" too long, so they have to be cut down a little. 25.00. Free shipping.

Option 2 (more desirable):
All-Pro sells the sleeves (no muss no fuss) for 8.00/each + 5.95 shipping.

So, if you want to save 13.00 you can get the first from low-range and cut them down.

Personally, I just bought All Pro's.

My assumption is they will be the most cost effective route concerning remedying the short sleeve.

Ordered these the other day. Been watching and researching for a few weeks and the prices went up from 225 to 270. But...had to do my research. I dont do any major hardcore offloading, but have to change the upper ball joints anyway and wanted the UNIs. I'm sure they'll be fine when I get it all together.

I may order the bushings from total chaos fab or convert these to heim joints for even more adjustability.

The two washers I used solve the sleeve problem cost 89 cent a piece x 2. Now that's cost effective! No problems with 12000 miles on them.

Please clarify for me the issues with having to add washers or some sort of modifications with these UCA? What exactly did you guys have to do? Bushings too short or whatever? I've read through the threads but couldn't visualized what are the issues.

I don't like the idea of uniballs on a daily driver as I don't want to have to worry about maintaining them or the conditions I put them in. Decided to spend a little more and go with camburg bj arms.

While browsing them I did notice that camburg has upgraded their arms and now use a 1.25" uniball instead of a 1". Curious what prompted that, if they were having failures or not holding up as well?

Camburg has always used a 1.25" uniball. I think they did to claim they have bigger uniballs when advertising. It might make a small difference in travel, but at most, its 1/2".

You're going to want to have a picture handy for this to make the most sense.

The bushings are fine, but the inner metal sleeve inside of the bushing is too short. The bushing and sleeve should be the exact same length.

Try to find a picture of the metal washer/plate (?) that sits against the whole outer bushing surface. That plate is should touch the metal sleeve and the bushing.

Instead, since the inner metal sleeve is recessed, the plate only presses on the bushing, which you don't want.

Solutions:
1. grind down the bushing to meet the sleeve
2. build up the sleeve to meet the bushing (by adding washers)
3. get an entirely new sleeve of correct length.


Since this is a budget UCA option, getting new sleeves might defeat the purpose of saving money. I went with solution 1 because I couldn't find correct washers, but many people do either. Doesn't really matter.

For anyone wondering, I've got the black uniball caps to stay on for a week or so now by using the 3m red roll adhesive like someone here suggested. I think they're going to stick for good.
