ECU compatability between years

Is there any issue replacing the ECU in my 95 T4R with an ecu from a 92?

I am throwing an erroneous code 26 (running rich), which my mechanic has determined to be the ECU because the o2 sensor is operating within range and shouldn't be throwing the code hence the idea that the ecu is starting to go. I've found one from a 92 for a fair price and want to know if there will be any issues.

94 - 95 ecu's are different than 93 and older. You could try it but I am not sure what it would "see" differently. Probably something to do with the 1995 obd1 emission standards.

Year, engine, trans, Fed or Cali emissions all make a difference.
OBD-II started in 96.

Oh yea... besides the obvious thing of the engine and tranny being the same... California or 49 state emission would have to match up as well.
