Eibach Pro-truck lift

Still on back order from Eibach, but shock warehouse is now $672.54 with a 21% discount and free shipping.

I called shockwarehouse yesterday and they said they should ship on the 15th or so. They said Eibach takes 2 weeks off for the holidays and they were also in the process of a warehouse rehab. I ordered them.

Was told the same thing, when I called.

Finally installed my Eibach lift yesterday on my '18 ORP KDSS. I wanted to try to preserve a bit of rake so I modified the kit by using the Wheeler's T13 rear springs, which are made by Eibach anyway.

KDSS is definitely a pain to wrestle with, and I did end up disconnecting the system from the LCAs to get the longer coilovers in. Since I used the Eibach PT front springs (2.75") I set front perches at stock height.

I'm really happy with how it rides and looks, the nosedive is completely gone, and it totally eats uneven pavement and railroad tracks. I'm looking forward to getting it off road. Even without an alignment it tracks totally straight. We'll see if the alignment says I need UCAs but based on the ride I really doubt it...

I have been extensively researching better suspension for months and what Toytec is saying does seem to be the case.. I have narrowed it down to Dobinsons or Eibach. After multiple calls to Eibach and various other sources it does seem that Eibach shocks will provide a better on road ride than the 5100’s set at anything above the “stock” height clip. The Dobinson seems to offer the same but as a package deal (new coils and shocks). I am not sure if I am ready to replace coils that only have 35k on them and I am looking for minimal lift.

Are you looking for a lift or just a better riding shock? The Eibach kit we are all talking about comes with springs too, just like the dobinson. The spring is what gives it the lift of 2.75” with the strut set at the zero setting. You can buy just the strut and change the setting (like the Bilstein 5100) but then you are preloading the spring and that will make for a stiffer (some people say harsher) ride.

So my question is what are you trying to achieve?

No I realize that the kit comes with coil springs but on the previous page someone mentioned the difference between Bilstein and Eibach shock ride quality and what the different vendors are stating. But I dont want any front lift to be over an inch meaning I only want a little factory rake. Getting better performing shock is my number one goal. I just purchase the Eibach leveling shocks today so we shall see about the ride quality. I rode in a very similar 4Runner with the 5100s at .85 setting and though they rode well. I have used Bilsteins 5100s on Tacoma’s and though at times they were too stiff.

Looks awesome!!! Did you use the rear shocks the kit came with?? I used the full pro kit and want more forward rake if possible. Waiting patiently on upcoming Eibach products or I might go similar route as yours.

Thanks! Yeah the rear shocks are the Eibach PT. I went with the T13 for that exact reason, to preserve a little bit of rake. If it ends up settling too much I'll probably add a 10mm spacer to the rear but for now I'm pleased with it.

We will see if they ship this week. Looking at auto anything, they list the ship date around the 24th. After watching it since "black friday" the shipping date keeps getting pushed back every week.

So that being said, if not the eibach kit then what would you go with?

I got mine from Bilsteinlifts.com. It’s toytec. Everything came in toytec boxes. I paid to have them assemble th strut since I needed new top plates. I paid $880 with shipping and got them to my front door in 48hrs.

good question. I'm going to hold off on researching again and hope they ship soon. Maybe someone from Eibach can let us know with more accuracy as to when they will ship. Eibach has been around a long time and I don't think even my powers of jinx-ness could loom over them. I'm in no rush... That's what I'm telling myself anyway. I'm a fat kid and I'm licking the outside of the candy store window.

That looks great! Really looking forward to getting this done, but I guess I worry a little about the shop doing it and working around the KDSS...

Thanks man. I'm pretty proud of getting through it myself, I'm not gonna lie. I decided to do the install myself because I live in an area that doesn't have a lot of Toyota experienced shops and I felt like I could get through it myself safely and learn something in the process. Also I saved at least $500, which is money I can put towards more mods.

I will say that the first time through was quite a learning experience and I wish I would have been a little better about video documentation to help others. I meant to be and then when it came time I was more concerned with the work and the experience and not breaking anything. I don't feel like there are any excellent video walk throughs- but I did learn a lot from watching the following KDSS specific videos on YouTube.

A couple of notes from my install that might be helpful: disconnect the KDSS at the points under the vehicle first to try to get enough clearance to fit your shocks and springs in. These "undercarriage" points are easier (still not easy but you know what I mean) to use the jack to get them back into place afterwards. If you need to loosen the points where the KDSS connects to the LCA after that you can but try to get the clearance without disconnecting the LCA points, they are very difficult to re-attach once the new longer shock is in. Also, I would remove all the brake line brackets from the UCA and arm when you're fitting the front shock in. Make sure you don't have tension on those lines when you're pushing the LCA down.

Good luck!

I ordered the eibach kit over a week ago and received an email today saying they are on backorder and should be coming in on Feb 28th.

Seems like the date keeps getting pushed back. I will start looking at other options if there's no confirmation by feb.

Looks great Angelo. Looking to do the same thing. How did the alignment go?

Thanks, I'm really loving it. Frankly I'm not sure about the alignment yet, with the storm that just blew through here I haven't had a chance to get it done yet. As I mentioned earlier it's not pulling at all, it tracks totally straight, so I feel like I've been able to let it ride a few days longer than I might have otherwise. I will report back with results soon.

For those running this lift....

How is the ride compared to stock?
I have a stock 2016 SR5, and I am seriously considering this lift,
with the addition of a C4 Fab bumper, winch, and rock rails.

The 4Runner can feel slightly sloshy at times, but I LOVE the way it sucks up potholes.
My 2011 Tacoma TRD rode much rougher and I hated it.
I dont want to ruin the way the 4Runner rides. I wouldnt mind loosing some of the sloshiness or nose dive under breaking, but not at the expense of it riding rough.
