Eibach Pro-truck lift

Just picked mine up. Very happy with it. Rides better than I anticipated. I’ll upload some better photos in better weather.

Ok, so here is my early review-- I'll post pics when I get some moments in the next day or two, I hope:

The changes for the truck are the lift, going to Wildpeak 275s, JBA UCAs, and XD Machete (I think) wheels. (Can't remember the exact model of wheel, but I got them on a close out). The truck has 82,000 miles, all mine.

This is my first lifted vehicle ever, so I don't have a background to compare it to anything else. I'm not a great wrencher (I do the fluids, that's about it) but I did a lot of reading before getting this lift. First off, it's got some pretty good reverse rake going right now, but I'm not too worried and will reassess in 1k miles after it settles a little. If it settles but still needs a little spacer in the rear, no big deal. I hope it'll sit level, but right now, it has a ways to go in the front.

From a ride quality standpoint, why have I waited so long???? Even just putting minimal mileage on it since the install was completed (by a shop, not me), the route to work with the familiar bad sections of pavement and such were a *very* noticeable improvement. I'm sure the newer tires had something to do with this as well since the old Discoverer AT3s had 50k miles on them. The ride is nice and firm, and the lift with the KDSS feels great on the road. Feels like a good, solid truck, which I like.

Using the Wildpeak 275s (which, from what I've read are a "bigger" 275) and the 17x9 -12mm offset wheels (yeah, I messed that up a little with the wide rims - we didn't realize until we had them in hand), the wheels sit flush with the flares. I wouldn't want it out any further, personally, but it has a nice stance that looks proportional to the height of the truck as it now sits. After the alignment, there was a little rub on the front mud flaps so we just took them off. I also didn't realize until later that the Wildpeaks were so heavy - this is a reminder to make sure you look at *everything* before hand! With the larger diameter tires and the unsprung weight, I can notice in the acceleration takes a small hit, but I usually drive it in sport mode anyways -- I have to with the hills here in WV. But, the guy at my shop said the Wildpeaks were pretty easy to balance and he used them all the time without issues. No problems with the alignment of the truck either, presumably assisted by the UCAs, which has been said in this thread that they aren't needed. I just figured if I was going to do this once, what's another $475 or whatever it was.

This part I can't explain (but it's a good thing): With the stock tires and then the Discoverers, road noise was...there. Driving on the lift with these tires, I was comfortable listening to the radio on my Entune at 7 notches below what it would normally be at during interstate speeds. Just throwing that out there. Somehow with the lift and the new tires, it's all quieter. No clue how that happens. I expected it to be slightly noisier.

From my shop guy, he had never worked on a 4Runner with KDSS. I warned him some of the threads here said that the literal work around was a PITA, and he confirmed it was a struggle. I had even printed some of the hints I found in threads for him, which he said helped. He also expressed that for the money and set up, this was a great lift kit to have installed and he was really impressed with it as well.

I have some relatively nearby off pavement areas to go try this out, and I can't wait to do so. But I have a 3 year old, so finding the time could be a challenge.

Thumbs up here for sure.

I agree with the majority of your review. The ride improvement is remarkable and the nose dive is virtually gone. I opted for the heavier LT285 Falkens on the stock trail wheels at the advice of the install shop. As expected, I did immediately notice a decrease in power and MPGs - I think I am getting somewhere around 15-17 MPGs combined. The independent lift shop did not encounter any issues on the install (with KDSS equiped) or with the alignment with stock UCAs. Currently, I have not experienced any floating at highway speeds and everything trails straight. I think/hope the stock UCAs will be fine for the occasional light to moderate trail riding. I am considering UCAs if I plan to attempt anything with significant articulation.

The fender mod was needed and the front flaps were removed because of the rubbing with the 285s. I do think I have some minor rubbing at full lock reversing to the right and I will confirm this when I get a chance.

Overall, I am very happy with the kit. In hindsight, I do wish I had the opportunity the compare a 285 setup to a 275 setup - I am wondering if there is a noticeable difference in loss of power between the 275s and 285s.

Hopefully I did this right. Someone reply if the images aren't here.

Like I said, the front needs to settle a bit. Looks good overall, though.

Looks good!

I think your issue is that you lifted the front 2.75" and didn't lift the rear, correct?

If so, this will put you 1" higher in the front. If you want it level, then you need to lift the rear 1".

The rear is lifted 1" with the kit, and supposedly, the goal of the kit is to lift and level. I'll give it some time to settle. We're on the lowest setting in the front.

What does the kit come with to lift the rear?

Taller springs?

Are you certain the lower spring perches on your front suspension are correctly oriented? Sometimes people put them in upside down and it gives the vehicle more lift in the front than intended.

If it doesn't improve, I'll have them check again. Like I said, I'm a bit new to all of this, so I have to go at their word.

Yes, this is common. Get a pic of the bottom of the front springs.

Where was the snap ring set? When I received mine it was set higher for added weight. Took me more time then I care to mention to figure it out. The instructions kind of contradict each other.

I will do so when I get better light. FWIW, the Eibach label printed on both front springs is right side up, if that matters. Does that, by chance, indicate if it's correct?

Edit: I just looked at the instructions online, and they indeed say that the logo on the springs should be right side up, so we should be good there.
