Electric Running Boards and Rock Sliders

I'm very interested in purchasing a 2012 4Runner Limited 4x4.

My only dilemma is that I don't really want the Electric Running Boards that come with every 4x4 Limited in So Cal.

My question is, as long as I always keep the Electric Running Boards off, can I install my own metal running boards? Or perhaps even rock sliders? Or do the electric running boards get in the way of installation?

You'll need to remove the auto-running boards if you wish to install your own or rock sliders.

That being said, if you're going to install another pair of running boards, you might end up liking the automatic ones (that's what happened with me, at least).

Are the electric ones removable?
