Just starting shipping/selling them. I miss Magpul being here- glad they stood up to the idiots and left though. Wish they would stop selling High Caps to LEO's (Every citizen not just us lowly serfs) in CO and any other high cap mag ban state.
Looks like I'm gonna have to make a trip o Wyoming... Damn CO legislature ramming the high cap mag ban down our throats. I'd like to throat punch every single democrat that voted Y to that bullshit!

Started building a survival kit immediately after procuring this 4Rnr. Still work in progress. I four-wheel alone 95% of the time. Love the solitude and freedom to explore at will, the risk also ads a nice edge (however I do not recommend it!).
Bought some decent items from Harbor Freight. But oh, those 2 dollar magnesium fire starters made in China? Stay away from them, couldn't get one of those to light if I poured gasoline on them! Pure trash. Pretty sad if someones life was at stake
Plan on replacing the 45 auto with a revolver - Ruger Alaskan 44. The tennis ball makes a good target for handgun practice. 10K lb tow rope, etc. Not pictured - 380 auto, 1st aid kit, and 55 gal trash bags in the jack storage area. Also have an RCI Ranger DX2970 transceiver that I need to mount - somewhere.

And your long gun? Not every scenario is appropriate for a handgun when you're alone in the wild (good against people, but not so much for varmints). I usually recommend some sort of AK/SKS or pump shotty (not an auto) for alternative scenarios (hogs, bears, coyotes, etc).

Hey El - you're absolutely right - need a long. Don't always bring it, depending on how deep I'm getting away from society, she comes along for the ride

I ALWAYS carry a trunk/truck gun with me no matter where I'm going. Urban threats can be just as serious as remote ones. (Note: As a former EP/SS worker, the only time you should EVER respond with force is if the bullets are heading in your direction. Otherwise, don't get involved and be a good witness. This is the hardest thing for people to accept as everyone wants to be a hero.)
My word of advice to anyone who wants to include firearms as part of their QRB/BOB: keep the investment down to a minimum. No sense carrying an $800 rig when a $400 one will do. If used in defense of yourself or another person, it's almost a sure thing that LE will confiscate it as evidence, tying up your investment for 2-3 years at least.
I've known guys to roll with an M44 or a K98K in the back of their vehicle for use in mixed situations. If you're in the sticks, .30 cal (7.62x54 or 7.92) will take down almost everything (man or animal). If you're in an urban situation (google Tyler, Texas Courthouse shooting, for example), it's got the stand off distance and penetration to go through all but SAPI plate body armor should you need to respond (remember: the first option is not to be there to begin with!). Having a 5/10 round rig for these sorts of situations also holds up in court better, but I digress as this isn't Arfcom.
Once I get my 2016 4Runner TE in (probably late Jan/early Feb at this point), my first purchase will be some sort of mobile gun safe for the rear. Has anyone installed one of these things in a 4Runner before and have suggestions?

No we need to talk about this type of stuff ask me anyway three types of people in the world sheep sheep dogs and wolves this family met a wolf too bad didn't have a sheep dog around to help them.
Most of my friends have some sort of vacation property in Texas they use on the weekends. I have 126 acres I've been spending time on which is surrounded by absentee land owners. When this story broke, it definitely made some people think. Some folks armed up, others like myself revisited my trauma kit to make sure I could treat more than two people. Making sure you cross train others on the basics of trauma treatment is key.

Man, isn't that the truth Andy? Sometimes the evil man is capable of just blows my mind. Being able to recognize the depth of these predators is a step in the right direction! These freaks always come to you as a friend... As a loner introvert, I can tell you it takes a lot of effort to get into my inner circle. I've been approached in the wild and rather appreciate a nod and move on about our business.
Now, in keeping with the thread, allow me to update my preparedness kit with a new addition - Ruger Alaskan - decided against the 454 casul after discussing with a few friends. This 44 should be quite lively. Now I need to go out and 'bond' with it

Yeah, having a 'street sense' or ability to quickly 'read' a person or situation is certainly an intangible asset to our EDC mental bag
