well my CEL, VTRAC on/off light is on and the squiggly car light

P2420 - Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit High
switching valve stuck off

anyone have ideas on the fix?
I've changed to a new gas cap and i can feel air traveling thru the EVAP purge valve near the intake manifold.

is the switching valve able to be changed independently or is it permanent part of the canister?

started once we began getting the cold weather in NY but that may just be a coincidence

I just had this, but I had whole slew of codes in addition to it, I ended up replacing the entire canister.. ran me about $710 for the part.... It was an easy install, drop the spare tire and it's right there off the fuel tank.

You can try to replace independent parts on the canister but every thing I read suggested that when folks tried this the eventually ended up replacing the entire assembly.

when the truck is cold the Purge valve at the manifold is off, when the truck is warm you can hear the purge valve ticking and you can feel pulses of air if you grab the vacuum hose

My 2016 Toyota 4Runner had the "check engine" light and Trac loc error displayed on the dash. I used the BlueDriver OBDII device to get code P2420 which has to do with the evaporative control canister. Anyway, I have been putting off buying a new battery. Amazingly, my battery lasted 7 years. I replaced the battery and the codes vanished. I have to believe that the low voltage was causing false readings. :banana:
