Engine stop problem

I pressed the button to stop the engine on my 2010 Limited w/ Nav so the engine started to turn off, but suddenly 1 second later, after I pressed the brake it started on again...without me even touching the button...
any ideas why this happened?

Were you in Park or Neutral? Was it the brake or the parking brake? Are you sure you never touched the gas pedal when you touched the brake?

Can you recreate the problem or did it only do it once?

I follow this routine:
Stop the car using regular breaks, engage parking brake, put it in Park, let go of the regular brake and press the engine stop button.

Today however for some reason, after following that routine, I pressed the regular brakes again right after pushing the engine stop button. That's when the engine started again.

I didn't touch the gas pedal at all.

Today was the first time this has happened...I tried doing it again and nothing weird happened.

For safety, I would shift into park before engaging the parking brake, but that's just me. If you can't repeat the problem, then you may not have depressed the start/stop button as fully as you thought the first time.

Remember... I am NOT a trained Toyota tech, so I would take it to a dealer immediately if it happens again.

i put it in park, engage the parking brake, ensure no pedals are depressed, then push the stop button and the engine shuts off - this is my normal routine. the engine has never spontaneously restarted when i have pushed the brake pedal after shutting off the engine.
