Engineering Design Decision? For TRD Pro... No Sun roof, no KDSS.. But why?

Ha you are driving a computer!
I was shooting for a FJ 40 but the boss shot me down so this is my compromise, nice and rides smooth but I don't think I can fix it with safety wire and supper glue on a trail.

If you ever go with an aftermarket lift or replace/rebuild your suspension, you have to undo the KDSS sway bar which is a pain in the rear to work on especially because of that big piston. But then again, I don't even run a front sway bar on my rig.
Not to mention, if youre going to offroad the rig, the KDSS pump is right by the slider area which can easily be damaged unless you have sliders. That could be another reason why they didnt put it on their TRD Pro "offroad" model.

I agree with most that it is more of a marketing bundle for the North America market as it is customized at port. As for the no sunroof/TEPP package, again I agree its more about price point. IF you want a sunroof and the TRDP pro look, start with an SR5 or TE and add the options yourself or via the dealer.

i dot know what toyotas' reason for it was, but i know I'm VERY glad i could get a 4runner without a sunroof or KDDS...
these were two things i was hoping to order my 4runner trail without and dealers were never able to answer me about a no-sunroof option, right about the time the TRD showed up without it...so that was that.

Pretty sure that was not part of Toyota's reasoning for omitting KDSS from the TRD Pro and reserving it for the "street" model only lol.

Just checked, there are 15 trails in dealer inventories without KDSS or a sunroof for at least 5K less than a TRDP. Maybe its a regional allocation that your dealer couldn't find one for you but they are out there. But you don't get the nice vinyl interior.

It's on every flagship Toyota SUV. Ergo the TRD Pro is not the flagship 4runner. The Trail Edition is.

If you guys recall the earlier discussion about building your own TRD PRO out of a trail or SR5...
I think that is still a viable option. Especially if you are willing to pay more than MSRP to get a TRD PRO.
TRD PRO seems like a base trail edition + nice suspension, a front skid plate, different front bumper and badging
.. If you didn't care for a warranty...
You could easily replicate a TRD PRO using even fancier suspension such as Fox or Icon then buying the TRD skid plate, and getting wheels that are wider than 7 inches.
Just saying... Mind you if you are dead set on the inferno colour than TRD Pro is your only option.
