ADVICE NEEDED

So it was mentioned earlier in the thread that I need to eat my veggies or eat better! I couldn't agree more, that being said I wanna here what's y'alls favorite healthyish camp site meal

I make this every trip for breakfast- sounds weird but it's good.

**Toasted Bagel/cream cheese/cucumber slices/tomatoes and maple bacon.**

Friggin best camp breakfast- the cucumbers give everything a clean fresh taste and the bacon- well- it's bacon! You can buy that pre-cooked bacon and that fries up with hardly any mess.

The Coghlan camp toaster works awesome on a camp stove for toasting bagels and only costs a few bucks...

You should see if you can stop at Anchor Brewing when you're in SF.

So much cool stuff to see down there. If you have time and you're driving down Hwy 1 near San Simeon Bay is Hearst Castle. They have a guided tour that is insane. Highly recommend.

However, you probably will have a harder time navigating through the idiots than enjoying the sights!

Are you going down Highway 1 to Venice Beach?

Make sure to stop in Pescadero for some food, go out to the Wharf in Santa Cruz, get some Clam Chowder at Stagnaro's at the end. You could probably grab a campsite at sea cliff Beach in Capitola/Aptos. My friend Larry owns Aptos St BBQ in Aptos. BBQ Brisket - delicious! Or, make your way to Watsonville/Moss Landing and stay at Sunset State Beach. Curve around, you could Rent a Harley in Monterey/Seaside, and see the coast, Pacific Grove, and 17mile drive. Better than the traffic in SF.

Make sure to stop in Carmel. You can also get a great campground for a decent price, and good facilities, at Laguna Seca Raceway. Try to make your way up to the Chaparral loop, great views.

Head down to Big Sur, take some pics at Bixby Bridge, stop for food in some of the hidden gems at Big Sur. Want a classy meal?

Then down to Hearst as suggested, then Morro Bay/Pismo Beach. Stop at Madonna Inn. Champagne Cakes, and bring a small bag to bring home a souvenir glass (just order a soda, and a glass of water, that way there is always at least 1 glass on the table )

Wow thank you for all that extra stuff I'm trying to read it while driving but that's not working so I will read it all whenever I stop I will definitely take your advice on what I saw about not riding through San Francisco rather than writing to the Pacific coast that is what I really wanted to do.

If you follow [MENTION=53960]itsdchz[/MENTION] route (which is an awesome idea, all of those places are phenomenal) you also might want to check out 17mile drive in Carmel through Pebble Beach. It's an awesome scenic drive (all on road) but you'll get some great sights and if you are a golf fan at all it is a must see!

In SF, be careful, they may mistake you as homeless, especially close to the parks. I'm not sure if Mt. Tam has camping. If not you may want to cross golden gate into Sausalito. There are some spots at Stinson Beach.
Or down the coast towards half moon bay.

DAY 21

Well today was good, I woke up from my great campsite and headed south down 101 on my way I stopped at a laundromat and washed my clothes which oddly enough was pretty quick. I still find it odd how open pot use is here vs Colorado where it's legal!! From there I headed south until I got sucked into a 5$ tourest trap called big tree drive through or something. None the less it was cool and I had to use the bathroom they had so it worked out. I also picked up a hwy 101 sticker fro. The gift shop. There I went on my way to San Francisco on the way I stopped at an infamous In N Out. I ordered a double double with animal fries based on a recommendation. It was ok, I feel this to be one of those things like say Braums or Chicken Express I really really like their food and I think it mostly is because I can't get it in SC or Krystal Burgers the same way. I want these things then when I get them I'm like uh that was OK!! Anyways, I made it into San Francisco and crossed the bridge and it was cool. I am concerned though about the toll situation!! Here's the deal I drove over it twice to get pics from different t angles and then looking for a place to camp I drove over another 2 times. One sign I saw said something like 6.50 I don't know how they bill but I hope they can't read my plate cause it's so dirty!!! I googled for camp and found bicentennial, well there are signs that say no overnight parking so this is a hike in only. Then I went to rob hill. $125 to spend the night in a tent I AM WAY OUT ON THAT!! Plus it said no walk up yad yada BS. I was able to find a really nice cop who told me that as long as I didn't put up a tent I could park at vista point and sleep there nd no one will say anything. So I will probably do that. I decided to go into San Francisco b4 calling it a night, as I write you I'm at a bar called hemlock, it's OK but $5 for a Bud Light is not OK at all that's hwy robbery!!! I have a whole 6pack I paid 7 for!! Anyways, I will venture down Polk St, seems to be the spot, and see what I can get in to, hopefully it doesn't involve handcuffs!! Here are the pics from the day

i actually just came from SF and love it more each n every time I visit. If you're a Star Wars fan, i would visit the LucasFilms headquarters in the Presidio!! As well as taking your 4runner down Lombard Street, the super windy one! Furthermore, take a trip to Twin Peaks in the city and be rewarded with a wonderful view of all of SF!


ps this is advice from a tourist lol. locals feel free to correct me if these places are overrated lol.

Lombard Street would be fun. We go on it every time we are in the city, as our son thinks it is the coolest. KOIT tower is a nice vantage point, but not very exciting. It's right up from Lombard. I'm sure you caught Fishermans wharf and Pier 39.. Just very crowded.

Twin Peaks is a great idea, and LucasFilms is way cool!

Welcome to Bay Area Pricing! There is a reason 90% of people commute 1.5+hours to work...at least if you want to live in something bigger then a breadbox.

I'm surprised you found a bud light for $5. That's a steal in SF!

If you can add another day to the trip, I'd suggest the couple of hours drive over to Yosemite from SF. My wife and I did a tour de Cali a few years ago and that was our most memorable part. We went: SF - Napa - SF - Yosemite - Merced - Monterey - Pismo Beach - Santa Barbara - LA(Hollywood, Venice, Griffith Observatory, etc...) - Vegas(Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam) all in a matter of 12 days. It was a great time so I'm loving watching your trip!

Man that's sounds great. I'm starting to get pressed on time, I have to be back by the 18th. More pressing however is the fact that I'm running out of money with none coming in!!! I still have to go to bike week when I get back!!! So I won't go back to work until late May or first of June.
