Looking for insight from experienced towers: I'm planning on towing from San Diego to Oregon, dropping my trailer for 10 days, and then towing to the east coast. I'm pretty clear on the process to initially set up the trailer for proper weight distribution, etc. But my question is about hooking up the trailer after 10 days off - can I just rehook up and go, or do I need to start from scratch with all the weight distribution measurements? The trailer load will not be altered in any way, FWIW - it will just be sitting as is between being unhooked and rehooked. Thanks!

I have towed 30'+ rv's for over 10 years. I am on my third one but it is now setup permanently. I never used anything but an equalizer hitch. Once you set it up for a specific vehicle and trailer combo, you should not have to go thru the setup again unless you make significant modifications to one or the other, such as lift kits, bigger tires, etc. in other words, to answer your question directly - no, you don't have to repeat the setup, just hookup and go.

BTW - I didn't tow those rv's with the 4Runner, I used full size pickups.

Best hitch there is in my opinion. I have a 2010 chevy crew cab towing 28ft enclosed car trailer Around 11000 lbs tows like a dream.. Once you set it up its a hook and go process.
