Evap service port

Hi guys,
I'm getting the P0446 code and I'm trying to work through the debug procedures in the FSM for the 2002 4Runner ... But I have a 98 which is quite a bit different in this area. So I found an FSM for the 2000 Tacoma which seems much closer to what we have in the 98 t4r.

Problem is though, the layout drawing shows the service valve on the top by the canister but I cant find it on the vehicle. I attached a pic of what's under the hood, in front of the driver. It would be great if someone could point me ton the right place.

It would also be great if someone had a 98 FSM PDF file they could send my way...

I have a '99 and the port is right there on top of the canister in the middle of that larger rubber hose. It even has a bright green tag saying EVAP SERVICE PORT. On yours, I see nothing similar, although the rest looks the same..

I have a 98 too, and I get 'the code' every 1,000 miles or so. I have a hunch that its related to rain/car washes, but not certain. At any rate, it's not effecting anything, so I just reset it with my OBD II and move on. Let us know if you solve it.

FWIW, I do not have the green Evap Service port either, mine looks just like yours.

Thanks for the reply guys. I ended up pulling the canister and inspecting it. Found a big crack in it. This code started bothering me this spring s I think what happened is that there was water in the canister somehow and during the winter it froze solid and broke it. Then in the spring when it warmed up, the ice melted and the EVAP test eventually ran and failed (once the engine temp and intake temp were aligned and I managed to run the EVAP test).

Although my crack is avertical crack on the front edge..., my plan is to just silicone up the crack like StreetCreeper did in this post:

Ha! I was going to buy a tee but the auto parts store wanted $50 for a vacuum gauge so I figured I'd have a closer look before spending that. I should probably just buy a chinesium grade gauge off eBay so i have one for next time... At least I found my problem fairly easily
