Evaporator

Doubtful, someone mentioned that they knew someone that could do it without removing the dash; but I don't believe they ever followed up with confirmation.

I had mine replaced a couple months ago. The whole dash had to come out so I went ahead and had my cracked dash replaced at the same time

Is posible remove the evaporator without removing the whole dash?

Best regards

Juan

Nope... Sorry bud, there is no way around it.... and it is a ***** job. I had mine replaced last year which cost me around $1,100.00 at my trusted mechanic's shop. I usually do all my own repairs, but it was hot as hell outside at the time and I simply did not have the time or patience. That being said, there is no "majic" in the labor of removing and replacing the evaporator; just a tremendous amount of time, organization and patience. Good luck.

Thanks.... next monday is the day... :)

JCDM, are you going to do the job yourself? If so, take some pics of your work as I am considering removing my cracked dash and replace with a new one.

Yes the dash has to go, I can't see anyway of doing it without removal. I did it at the beginning of the summer and it was a total SOB but well worth it.

Nop, I found a mechanic who knows how to, the only thing he told me was: "please dont come until call you"

He was recommended by many people who i asked for his work. he did the same work several times. Anyway no chances to pick another guy. So all i need is little luck.

Everything is up and running, no broken parts, no weird noises, no noises at all, no nothing... two days of labor, good!!!!!

Is this something like the dash cracks? My evaporator sprung a leak too. The mechanic is pulling the dash now. Going to have a bad hot/cold control servo replaced while they've got it all apart.

FYI, if you're replacing your dash, save your receipt, I believe Toyota is reimbursing for cracked dashes. I'm waiting till end of summer when they will replace it for me.
