I have seen posts where many have had poor service from 3rd party warranties, me included.
Toyota Platinum zero deductible from your selling dealer is usually way too expensive. There are 2 other Toyota dealers you can buy the Toyota warranty from at 2/3 to half the cost usually quoted by a selling dealer. I bought 1 from each of them for my 4Runner and recently for our Sienna.

Read through the first few pages of this thread. The extended warranty through Toyota seems to be affordable and provide excellent coverage. As mentioned, it's best to purchase through Troy Dietrich or similar as it's 1/2 the cost of what our dealer will quote for the exact same.

I showed my dealer the cost from the discounting dealers and they matched it.

There are two types of service contracts - "named component" and "exclusionary."
Named component only covers items that are explicitly named in the contract. A common "loophole" on these is that the defective item must have the same name from the OEM as explicitly stated in the contract, otherwise it's not considered the same item and therefore not covered.
You want exclusionary coverage, which the Toyota Platinum VSA is, as this covers everything except those listed in the "not covered" disclaimer. This is obviously a lot more comprehensive and the desired coverage.
