Did a satin finish with Scotchbrite pads and WD-40...

All mounted...

Here's what I've got done so far on my rear bumper. Not much, I admit, but I got overwhelmed and will hopefully get some more work done here soon. I'm planning on using a cut piece of the rear bumper, similar to Crozhawks design. This will help save some weight and improve the side profile, at least I think so. Then I'll eventually build a swing away and weld on some shackle tabs.

I hate at least one thing from each of the bumpers on the market, so I'm VERY happy to get the opportunity to build my own bumper.

This is exactly why I build my own stuff. A lot of the prefab'd bumpers try to cover the large gap between the bottom of the grill and the frame, and it makes the bumpers look huge. So I skinnied it up, need to make some skids for mine now.

Trying to find the right proportion is probably the hardest thing for me. Especially because it's all in your head. But I like those challenges. I ditched the cardboard cutouts because it was taking too long, so I just dove right in and lit up the plasma cutter.

The one recommendation I have it to have the bumpers powder coated. I sprayed mine and it's starting to get a bit rusty due to the rock chips.

I'm just now trying to figure out how I want to finish my bumpers. My main concern is future touch-ups. I'm considering a professional color-matched option, Line-X, powder coat, and even rattle can. I've been experimenting with different preps and paints on my skids... so far, sanding, acetone, self-etching primer, and Rustoleum "hammered" black is the best at-home finish I can do without buying spray equipment. I'm also considering the 3M protection film on the front-facing flats if it gets painted or a smooth powder-coat.

I find protecting fab-work with some type of finishing to be quite challenging.

Come on bro... I don't post stuff to get flamed. I enjoy this forum as much as the next guy. I use the information on here a bunch. Forgive me if I've come across in a bad way. Like I said. You guys are brutally honest and I enjoy that, constructive criticism is good. So don't take my post in a bad way. Will you incorporate any hoops into your design? What gauge steel are you planning on using? What kind of welder do you have? Lol sorry for 20 questions, just curious.

Yeah I don't know how to TIG, only MIG. The welds should come out nice for you. What price point are you aiming for?

We will be contracting through a powder coater and we will get quotes on powder coat batches when the time comes
