Factory E-Locker Harness Extensions

So I found out through another member hear that the rear locker harness can be strained with something like the 890s at full droop. He made a little aluminum bracket to give the cable some more breathing room.

While at my mechanics shop today they let me take a peak under while she was up of the lift (oil change) and sure enough the poor cable is pretty tight!

That did get me to thinking though, I can't really find any information on the forms or anywhere about this... since I had no idea I assumed they may be other people who do not know about it.

I'm going to work on my bracket tomorrow to see what I can do with the tools I have... Will probably look like shit . Haha

When I made my bracket I had to make sure it was toward the rear so it cleared the sway bar at full droop. The sway bar pivots over the top of the locker motor area.
I also installed second gen rear links to level out the sway bar and reduce how much it pivots at full droop.

I have 2nd Feb links as well since they were all I could afford back after my first setup was installed. Haha

I'm about to get out there and start messing around with the aluminum bar I got. May post pictures soon.

That should work.

On mine I bent down a tab on one edge of the lower leg to prevent it from spinning. Not sure that’s a real concern though.

And this is got to be up there with the top 10 most pain in the ass things to do. It's almost impossible to see without a mirror.

If you drop the spare you can crawl under the truck and have all kinds of room to play with the rear axle.

yep, get rid of the spare. Guess im lucky, as I made my harness and left some slop

You know I thought about dropping the spare, but I felt like I wouldn't be able to see the other side... Well I'll remember that for next time if I make a nice bracket. Haha

Alright so this is as much droop as I can pull without a lift. The cable seems to be okay now.

(Note, I am still getting some noise during big flexed even if I am going slow. Strange rotational noise, not super loud but I need to figure out what it is)

Probably your driveline rubbing your fuel tank skid.

When you stuff the drivers side rear the panhard bar pushes the axle over to the drivers side cause the axle mount acts as a lever.
That’s why I’m hesitant to install the axle side PHK bracket. I don’t want to make that lever longer.

So when I compress the driver's side? I should be able to see tell-tale signs on the driveshaft right? Or the tank?

Damn I already had the axle side of the bracket installed lol...

Is there any other solution for this?

thanks for posting those pictures. Even though I dont have the problem, it looks like your fix cleaned it all up nice. Might have to do something the same
as my "slop" is just being handled by zip ties...yours looks clean fix

Slop? Is your cable too long?

If so you could rig up a spring support. Something that holds the slop but can easily extend when needed.

mine is a retro fit elocker with a home made harness and used the gray wire modification when making...one of the best mods..my opinion

Ah the any time locker mod? I did that to mine, just grounded that one gray wire I think was all it took.

Yeah like if you ever see some of those hoses on the back of semi's, sometimes they have a long spring that holds it up but allows for flex/stretch.
