1) Yes it works on 2011 Canadian version
2) Everything you need is listed on the detailed schematic
3) Yes that will also work on 2011 Canadian version, you do need external video source. You simply hijack the reverse camera signal and replace it with your own video signal. Should waork on any model/year Toyota with factory Nav.

I'm dangerously close to getting your kit. Instead of the simple switch you used, can this be used instead?

I'm pretty sure I asked before, but I think it was for another button, but if this can work, I'd go with this.

Thanks!

Yes, you can use that switch. Pretty much any SPST 12V switch will work as well. I have a fresh batch ready to ship, so just let me know if you have any other questions.

Ordered!! Thank you.

I do have a question. The switch I mentioned in the above post: When ordering, it does mention that this switch is electronic and rated at 3 amps. It goes on to say a fused relay is a must when installing. (text here)

For off-road lights and other "power hungry" accessories, I can understand this, however this module I'm not sure if I need one. Can I just find any 12V switched source and connect that to this switch??

Thank you.

3amp is way more than the nav override module will be using, which is in the miliamps. If you will be getting 12V+ from a circuit that already has a fuse you are fine and no need to put another fuse, if you are going straight from the battery (no reason to), put a fuse in for sure.

Also, are you sure that switch fits 4th Gens? It sort of looks like a 5th Gen switch shape to me.

That's what I figured. Wiring it straight from the battery really makes no sense IMO either. The only accessory I have directly connected to my battery is my retro HID harness. Thanks!

Yes, 99% sure it does. Text here (text in red). I'll post pictures when I get it!

I've had JA's nav override for some time now and it is quite useful. I use it more than I thought I would...turns out, there are a lot of locked out features in the factory nav.

I do have one question for you cookieroe...are you going to wire these lighted switches to a relay? And will you be tapping into the dash light / dimming circuit so that they illuminate amber? I've seen these switches before but hesitant to pull the trigger since I would need a handful of these.

For sure I'll be tapping into a dash light wire for this (and other similar switches I plan to install for other projects). The module doesn't draw alot of power so, as J.A. alluded to, there is no need for a relay. BUT, I understand your concern the manufacture says a relay MUST be used for the switch. I want to say that would 100% true if you are going to use a power hungry item (winch, LED light bar, fog lights, fridge, zombie lights, etc). I'm still reading up why relays are used, but I can't see anything why this would be a BAD idea (not to include one) for this particular install. I haven't ordered the switch(es) yet.

switches I plan on getting (aironboard)
1) GPS (for this lock-out module)
2) Work Light (I want to install LED strips under the hood )
3) Ambient Light (bought an OEM fog light switch for this)
4) Camera (for a front camera project I have in the works)

Thanks for your feedback. My 07 Civic came with the factory navigation and I use it on-the-fly often. The block-out feature Lexus and Toyota NAVs have is maddening, but luckily there a fix for this.

They are nice switches and would be a great OEM like replacement for the plain old black rocker switches I currently have. Not that the ones I have on there now are bad, but I'd like some illumination and labeling to the switches. When my wife drives the rig, she never knows what switch goes for what.

One of the main reasons I've been hesitant to purchase them is that I'm afraid of losing functionality for the some of the mods. For instance, I did JA's footwell lighting mod, and always have it set to go on when the door is open, engine is off, etc. I do occasionally turn them on while driving at night. I also did the map light mod under the same circumstances…have it on all the time and rarely turn them off. So…how would these switches function with mods like that…will they retain their original functionality? Perhaps JA would know…

I emailed the tech support for AOB and they said that there are four wires to the switches:
1 - ground
2 - power in
3 - power out
4 - dash circuit

cookieroe - do you know where the dash circuit illumination wire is in the t4r?

I'd have to look at my tech files (i downloaded a while ago) and my Haynes as well. I'll post any findings (I don't have them at the moment). Its definately located in one of the boxes by the driver's side dash.

J.A., this is one of the best mods I've seen. Demonstrates clearly how I'm so not an engineer or electrician :) I don't have the skill to build your module box, but could probably handle the install. Happy to buy your expertise to acquire one of the modules!

Will put in an order today, but am curious about a couple things. The very last paragraph answered one of them--wouldn't this impact the nav unit's time/distance calculations. Hence the switch. Brilliant! But one question I still have is related to the instruction that the module must be connected to a 12V power source that is only powered when the ignition is on. I completed the Constant 12V Power Outlets mod. I did it to the letter, no deviations from the exact instructions and specs on that mod.

Does that mean all the 12V power lines running through the car will have constant power (thus prohibiting my ability to wire the module to a 12v line that's only powered when the car is on), or just the power outlets? If all of them, I assume I will need to run a new 12v line into its own fuse/relay so it's not controlled by the now always-on circuit?

What 12V lines are behind the nav area, and how can I tell which ones are 12V?

The 12V Constant mod does not hinder this at all. I have done the 12V Constant (and 115V Constant) mods as well. The reason you dont want constant power is in case you leave the switch on by accident, then if wired up to an ignition source it will automatically power down when you shut off the vehicle. You can get ignition power at the Cigarette Lighter (pink with light blue stripe wire) in the console and you done even have to have that option for the wire to be there.

Is the switch you include with your pre-made nav override module the same as the one you used in the instructions from Oznium?

Can you confirm this is the Oznium switch you used in the instructions (the amber version)? Since your module presumably only comes with one and I'm going to be installing 4 switches, I want to buy a few more from them--but make sure I'm getting the exact same one so they're all consistent.

The switch i now include is from a different source but is identical in every way to the oznium switch but one. The amber led on the oznium is clear when off as it has a clear lens, mine have an amber lens.

See the oznium switch here Round Rocker Switch - 12V LED - Prewired in Blue, Red, Green, White, Amber, Pink
See my switch here http://www.top4runners.com/cgi-bin/image.pl?/ja/2007/navvideo/switch3.jpg

I do have one oznium clear lens switch left that i can put with your order, or I can refund you the price of the switch and you can get it on your own with the others. Let me know. Thanks.
