Do you know if this will work on a 2014 4Runner, or any reason to think otherwise?
Does this work for 2014 Tundras?
Hello all,
first time here and I found this when I search how can I bypass my Nav on my canadian 4Runner 2011 Ltd. Sorry for my english, its not my born language
I have a question for @ J.A.
1: do you know if it work on canadian 4Runner 2011?
2: I want to try to built it but I didn't found a part list to be sure I install a good parts, do you have one?
3: It concern your post for watching DVD on NAV sys and its look cool, but do you know if it work on mine? I dont have the option of DVD entertain in my car, do I need that or I just need to have an external device and plug it on the nav sys?
I hope my sentence was enough good to be understand,
have a good day and thank you for yours post
David
Yes, you can use that switch. Pretty much any SPST 12V switch will work as well. I have a fresh batch ready to ship, so just let me know if you have any other questions.
Ordered!! Thank you.
I do have a question. The switch I mentioned in the above post: When ordering, it does mention that this switch is electronic and rated at 3 amps. It goes on to say a fused relay is a must when installing. (text here)
For off-road lights and other "power hungry" accessories, I can understand this, however this module I'm not sure if I need one. Can I just find any 12V switched source and connect that to this switch??
Thank you.

3amp is way more than the nav override module will be using, which is in the miliamps. If you will be getting 12V+ from a circuit that already has a fuse you are fine and no need to put another fuse, if you are going straight from the battery (no reason to), put a fuse in for sure.
Also, are you sure that switch fits 4th Gens? It sort of looks like a 5th Gen switch shape to me.
I've had JA's nav override for some time now and it is quite useful. I use it more than I thought I would...turns out, there are a lot of locked out features in the factory nav.
I do have one question for you cookieroe...are you going to wire these lighted switches to a relay? And will you be tapping into the dash light / dimming circuit so that they illuminate amber? I've seen these switches before but hesitant to pull the trigger since I would need a handful of these.
cookieroe - do you know where the dash circuit illumination wire is in the t4r?

J.A., this is one of the best mods I've seen. Demonstrates clearly how I'm so not an engineer or electricianI don't have the skill to build your module box, but could probably handle the install. Happy to buy your expertise to acquire one of the modules!
Will put in an order today, but am curious about a couple things. The very last paragraph answered one of them--wouldn't this impact the nav unit's time/distance calculations. Hence the switch. Brilliant! But one question I still have is related to the instruction that the module must be connected to a 12V power source that is only powered when the ignition is on. I completed the Constant 12V Power Outlets mod. I did it to the letter, no deviations from the exact instructions and specs on that mod.
Does that mean all the 12V power lines running through the car will have constant power (thus prohibiting my ability to wire the module to a 12v line that's only powered when the car is on), or just the power outlets? If all of them, I assume I will need to run a new 12v line into its own fuse/relay so it's not controlled by the now always-on circuit?
What 12V lines are behind the nav area, and how can I tell which ones are 12V?
Is the switch you include with your pre-made nav override module the same as the one you used in the instructions from Oznium?
Can you confirm this is the Oznium switch you used in the instructions (the amber version)? Since your module presumably only comes with one and I'm going to be installing 4 switches, I want to buy a few more from them--but make sure I'm getting the exact same one so they're all consistent.
