Walker Muffler

After 1,300+ miles, I finally got over to the next town (30 miles) to the closest muffler shop, to get my "Walker 55054 Quiet-Flow Stainless Steel Muffler" (stock sounding) installed! Pretty happy to have a muffler again, even though I REALLY enjoyed hearing the engine better.

Valve cover gaskets & spark plugs/wires

Valve cover gaskets were leaking... I live near legendary TW member, Blackdawg (EPIC build thread!)... He knew enough about the 3.4L, so he helped me out, no charge, and saved me quite a bit in labor, while teaching me some new things about my engine!

Thus, a special thanks to Monte! :yo:

The adventure continues...

The adventure continues for myself and the 4Runner. Now, I'm at college in the midwest near Indianapolis, the 4Runner continues to prove oneself. College adventures, such as Walmart runs, cross-country drives, and whatever else I need it to do are the norm... Both the Rig and I miss the dirt and the towering peaks of home, and we will return!

Oil Change + 112k Miles

Just changed the oil for the first time away from home - in a college parking lot at 12:30 AM! Went well, didn't have a funnel, so I cut up a bicycle inner tube, works great!

Just crossed over 112,000 miles! This truck continues to see me through!

I did have something really weird happen the other day. I stopped for gas, turned off the truck, did a partial fill up, then tried to start it. When I turned the key, there was absolutely no lights on the dash, no overhead map lights, no NOTHING. So I got out my jumpers, was prepared to call someone over, and my buddy decided to see if the other end of the jumpers would spark...They did, and some how, the lights and electrical came back on!

I know it was all disconnected for a spell, because my headunit reset itself....

EDIT: turns out, I had loose battery terminal connections. Thanks to Connor ( [MENTION=53555]Snowy21[/MENTION] ) for helping me out with that! kind of a headsmacker moment for me.

Hasn't happened since... But we continued on our merry way. Gotta love the character of a Toyota! :dance:

hey bud..

which valve covers did you went with? cause mine is started to leak a little.. figure, is time to replace it.. I'm almost at 280k..

These are for a 3.4L V6 3rd Generation 4Runner. I put in my year to get the exact one (1998), if there were multiple options for the same part number (i.e. Tacoma versus 4Runner).

Note: ALL part numbers are for ONE part, the number in parentheses is how many of that part number you need to order.

Valve Cover gaskets: 11213-62020 (2)
Spark plug seals (NOT included with valve cover gaskets): spark gasket: 11193-70010 (6)
PCV valve: 12204-62010 (1)
Grommet: 90480-18001 (1)
Semicircular plug: 11183-62010 (4)
Washer seals: 90210-05007 (16)

My total, not including shipping for this list, as of 4/22/13 at Camelback Toyota Parts is $97.55.

Got a new O2 sensor installed early this morning around 1 AM in the parking long. Had to wrestle with the two bolts holding the old one there, to the point that I had to superglue the new O2 sensor on. Need to find some JBWeld to complete the job.

Mileage: roughly 115,500.
 
The 4Runner is still my reliable rig, now has seen my finish my first year of full time college! Doing an oil change this weekend hopefully - also plan to check for LBJ wear. Crossed over 117,000 miles this morning - hard to believe it's only been two years since this 4R became mine! :)

Side note: the Walker Muffler bolts for the O2 sensor are junk. I tried to change my sensor that went bad over Christmas break a few weeks ago - and both bolts came out. Ended up having to JBWeld it into place. :doh:

Thanks mate for asking! Gonna head up in the mountains for a few days to go moose hunting (aka bull moose photography!)... Also have a radiator on tap, and maybe some LBJs! :hatsoff:

Currently am planning to replace the radiator with a Denso one at nearly 120,000 miles, along with some fresh coolant, namely some Toyota Red ($30/gal!!), along with some rust treatment later on... Otherwise am working on a dirtbike -> street legal motorcycle to commute 3 miles each way at school in an effort to save the city miles on my 4Runner... Also hoping to have a hitch carrier for it soon!

I work for a small park doing, among other things, as a kayak guide, taking the public out on free weekend tours (and special groups - still pretty low traffic though) of the park - a slow moving river, so it's not "true" kayaking, more of a cross between canoeing and kayaking. A big blessing to have for part of my job, I enjoy it tremendously! The above picture from this morning was me running one kayak out as a favor for someone, normally, we have a few more...

If you're (or other T4R members!) ever up this way (Northern WY), let me know, and I'll be happy to take you out! Also: thanks for the tip on the Zerex, maybe I can find some locally! Would save me a pretty penny!

I'm third from the rear, this is a shot from a 16 mile paddle last summer - canyon walls are over 1,000 feet from water to rim alone... :

Wow. That looks like a terrible line of work, I bet it's hard to put on a smile and do that every day.

Just stop by a Napa or O'riellys (if you have those nearby) and ask them for the Zerex... they'll order it in for you.

It can be actual work sometimes but I thoroughly enjoy it! Around one day a week kayaking currently (among other days of more boring work lol) , while I put myself through school, fall is almost here, crazy.

I have both of those nearby,that should be easy enough! Thanks mate, I really appreciate it! Keep posting wheeling pics of your '01, looking solid! :)
