Fender extensions

I've been waiting to do this mod but had trouble finding the right stuff.

I got the flares (hard rubber) from a 90 Isuzu trooper. It blends in nice to the SR5 flares. Now, I can install wheel spacers.

I'm confused... You extended the flares so you can extend the wheels? Why not just use the spacers as is? Not being critical, just curious.

If I extend the wheels with spacers, it will splash mud and dirt all around the body. Also in some states (especially CA) you cannot have wheel sticking out than the body. With these fender extensions I win in both cases.

I know here in NJ and PA if any part of the wheel/tire sits outside of the fender you can be ticketed.

Yea I heard this also. Because big tires can kick up rocks easier. Sooo.....

Same reason the state requires mud flaps. Keeps down road spray and helps prevent rocks flying up.

Nicely done, nissan. That would have been $100 or more of Flexy Flares, what'd you end up paying for the Trooper flares? Are they flexible at all?

I paid $16 for all 4 flares. Yes, they are very flexible.
I think these should be available to buy in desired length, but don't know a place. I've been looking for these or sport flares for the past few months, and no lock until yesterday!!!

They are, they're called Flexy Flares and you can buy them at Low Range, among other places. They're much more expensive than $16, so you done good .

I'll be seeing if Trooper flares fit on a first gen shortly. :thumb:

They're pretty stiff on the wheels being covered here in VA as well. You can usually get by with them peeking out a bit, but anything more than an inch or two and it's just a matter of time before a cop pulls you over for it. Same with lift heights. They'll pull you over with a measuring tape in hand.

Those are a pretty good way of getting around the situation though. They'll look good with the wheels spread out to meet them.

I have a buddy with a Hummer that has 35" tires. The day he put them on he got pulled over by a State Trooper who gave him a pretty sizeable ticket. He had to go to court and show that he added overfenders. They look like sh1t, but he doesn't want to get any other tickets.

For instace, a few in my area(Not saying they're the most attractive things, but its for some reason a growing trend in my area.)

Neither of those are legal in any state, the truggy below is street legal with mud flaps that meet the outside of the tires and cover more then half of the tire. Think about it like a semi truck a lot run without fenders only flaps.
Sow me code for 99% of the assumptions people make just because some uneducated cop pulled you over and said you needed them. Heck a cop tried telling me I needed a windshield in a old truck of mine that was vandalized I asked him to show me the code in which I was breaking, he couldn't come up with one so he let me go.
