Does or has anyone ran the tires on there 4 runner? I am liking them but since have 4x2 I don't realley need a M/T tires but per a good friend who sales tires they wide just like at A/T and wear good when balanced and rotated every 6k miles?

I am concerned the 285/75/17 will rub on the front? So was curtious if anyone has any expersene with this and or nows anything about them? Thanks for any help you can lend?

If you are 2wd and not off roading, why take a huge MPG and performance hit with big heavy tires, not to mention noise? I think a 285/75/17 is going to require a lot of cutting, hammering, and probably a body mount chop, especially without UCAs.

Get some stock size LTX MS/2. They wear for ever, quiet, light, great street tires.

The gentleman at the tire shop says they will fit with no rub. I on the other hand belive like others have posted that they will rub. Not a bad idea to mount then and see only problem is that even at a shop and turning the tire when on the ground while it might not rub? What about driving everyday on road with pot holes etc...???

I was thinking of a 285/70/17 or 275/70/17 BFG all terrian but he swears this tires ride better then BFG A/T and less noise? While he has nothing to gain by suggesting this Fierce M/T over the BFG A/T as they cost more the BFG's I mean.

Is anyone evening running this tires? Per a tire size calculator the current stock tires 265/70/17 are 31.6 tall by 10.4 wide vs the 285/70/17 are 32.7 tall
And 11.2 wide. So I would be going up roughly a inch on height and width if the calculator is correct?

All I want is a bigger tire to fill the wheel well both height and width that doesn't require cutting anything that is white letter and rides good. No off roading is going to occur just driving on road. I have always ran BFG on other truck and SUVs but was concerned per another post that BFG are not true to there size?

^^^X2

I'd save the money skip the MTs. Just get something with good on-road performance.

Even running 285/70 ATs, you will need to do some fender modification to get rid of rubbing.

I've never even heard of these tires before, but according to the manufacturer they don't come in that size. They have 285/75/16. The only sizes they have for 17 rims are 265/70/17 (stock size) and 35x12.5.

Ok guys what do you think about 275/70/18 BFG A/T's? Are they true to size? Will I even notice a Diffrance between them and stock?

27f BFGs will look bigger than stock... even 265 BFGs will have the appearance of a bigger tire just from the tread and sidewall design

Ok good to know. Next questions will the 275/70/17 BFG A/T rub anything? Or is this the biggest tire that can be ran with 2.5 front & 1.5 rear leveling kit without rubbing?

Again I am looking for a tire that looks bigger or is bigger without rubbing or needed to cut or modify anything! Thanks for all the help as I stock between a rock and hard spot trying to figure out what is the best tire to achive the above listed.

You should be able to run a 275/70/17 with minimal rubbing, probably cure it with relocating the front fender - remove 1 screw, pull forward, drill, re-install screw

Is anyone running a 275/70/17 BFG A/T tire on their 4 runner? While I trust what all is being told to me on the forum I feel that going from 265/70/17 which = 10.4 width by 31.6 to a 275/70/17 which = 10.8 width by 32.1 is not a big deference due to being less then 1 inch change between size.

An since I have the leveling kits 1.5 rear and 2.5 front that the tire should fit with no rubbing? With all that how accrate are the online tire calculators? It's the only reference point I have. Am I Missing something or it just not going to work? Thanks again for all the help an not trying to beat a dead horse just want to be better informed before spending x amount of money. As we are fixing to leave to go on vacation in which the 4runner will be used to travel 5 hours and want to get new tires installed before the trip but don't want any problems on the trip or for that matter at all.

Thanks again!!!

I run 285/75/17s, I have a 2.5" lift in the front, and about the same in the rear. I've done a lot of trimming, the body mount chop, etc... Blah blah blah and I still rub under articulation. I need the clearance, if you're not off reading you are just wasting a lot of money. The tires get very heavy when they are that big which affects your mileage and performance. I'd second the MTX recommendation, or try some NITTO TerraGrapplers. Good luck.

Not quite sure what do then. I want a A/T tire to feel the wheel well and gain better performance for on ride driving along with being able to pull my boat up a ramp.

My current 265/70/17 are Dunlop pos tires from the factory and don't handle we'll at all on long trips or for they matter around town. That's why I lookin at a upgrade to BFG A/T to gain just that a better ride, look and performance. Guess I will have to gamble and go with the 275/70/17 BFG A/T's and see what happens?

As long as you have a good alignment and max caster with your stock UCAs, 275/70/17 should be fine. I barely rubbed with 285/70/17s...along with a ton of other people on here. All trucks are different though. some guys have claimed to put 285/70/17 on with no lift or fender mod and no rubbing. Others have said they put on stock size AT or MT and have rubbing...so it is basically a crap shoot and not an exact science. With your 2.5/1.5 lift, I would recommend 285/70/17 and just do the fender mod....or else you will just want bigger tires if you spend much time on here. Upgrade your UCAs to get the proper alignment and you will be much happier all around. MPG loss will be minimal no matter what size you go with. I lost more MPG with my lift!

Well I ordered 275/70/18 BFG A/T's today. They should be in Wednesday? Next question with this tires how much air would you recommend running in them? Since they are load E and A/T I was thinking 50 psi? What do you all recommed to get the max life out of the tires? Also what about nitrtion vs regular air?

Thanks
