Finally! 3D printed SR5 Mudflaps and Flare End Caps (free download)

Plastics guy: You can put me down for one set each of the two styles. (If it matters, these would be for a '99 Highlander SR5.)

Looks like I will be making two styles. An OEM full flair that has the mud flap and the flair end cap style that's kind of a low profile.

Put me in for the second option. I have the SR5 flares.

I have a set of the 3D printed stubbies (not installed yet) - I have a feeling these could sell well off the forums (on eBay, I guess).

I did see a guy with an otherwise full set of flares+flaps with one base-model front flap driving around in an otherwise pretty beat up 4Runner. So yeah, even normal people want some coverage there.

What material would they be made out of? I can't remember what the stock ones are...

Looks like there is plenty of interest to make these in the molded style so I will let Plastics Guy do this project. I have plenty other projects to deal with right now. If for some reason these become too difficult to be made by mold then [MENTION=146407]Plastics guy[/MENTION] just contact me and I will make 3D printed versions available. I will need to dust off my large format 14"x14"x14" build volume printer to make the large full size flares. I probably wont put them up as a product on my website. Just put them available for a few months to members on here.

I'd be interested too. I've been looking for these for ages. Sometimes when I'm super bored I look through Russian and South American sites for a forgotten driver side one hidden in some Indiana Jones style warehouse.

I can cast these for you guys if you want. This is what I do. No need to go to Hong Kong, lets do it in AZ.

I can cast one piece mud flaps that are 100% smooth and ready to bolt on. No prep work at all. Castings will be stronger than any 3D print.

A guestimate price for these would be $75.00 per set ready to bolt on.

Hell yeah! I'm glad you're interested in making these parts. I made about 6 sets before I felt I wanted to move onto other projects and just put the files up for free on thingiverse. My 3d printed set (ABS covered with a thick layer of epoxy) are still holding up great.

People still email me ever so often asking for a set, but as bhicks said they are a pain in the ass to print because they require so much support material. Casting is definitely the way to go. Good luck selling these -- my design may be free, but I hope you charge enough to cover all yours costs for time, materials, shipping, mistakes, etc. Don't underestimate!
